I am new to the trans comics (that is to say I have NEVER read one) and am wondering where a good place to start reading would be? I am not interested in reading stories that I have already watched on the toons. Im more interested in reading the stories where starscream owns almost all transformers with the help of an underground base power, the stories where megs and galvatron team up and cyclonus gets his head ripped off, the stories where the sweeps and cyclonus travel back into time. I am also a fan of the classic bots more than the newer ones.
So, with that in mind where should I start? Is it even possible to find the comics of which I speak at a comic store and are they going to cost me an arm and a leg?

Yeah could I please get a few opinions here? I dont know a thing about comics in general let alone transformers comics. I only want some opinions on where a good place to start reading would be. Keeping in mind that I am a fan of the G1 bots and that I would like to read stories that dont have a toon version of them.
I also wanted to know where I may find these comics and what I could expect to pay for em. Any help would be great here guys n gals.

I wish I could help ya, but I only followed the old marvel series until about issue #24. I think IDW has a bunch of the older marvel series reprinted however. But if you have any questions on the non Marvel stuff like Dreamwave and IDW, then I can help you there.

Great! That sounds good! Im looking for some dark stories if they exist. Ive been told that the comics are indeed pretty dark and graphic with alot of robot death.
Im just hoping to compile some info incase I need to resort to ebay to procure a bunch of comics that I know nothing of.
