Artist Alex Milne has updated his deviantART page with his design for Sentinel Prime's predecessor, Nominus Prime, from Transformers Ongoing #23. According to Milne's post he intentionally went with an aircraft vehicle mode because so many previous Prime's have had land based alt modes. The design is also featured in the Transformers: Alex Milne Sketchbook.

vehicle mode is crap.

Vehicle mode looks like a proto-Thunderwing. I like it. This Nominus fellow was above the peasants, literally and figuratively.

Sentinel came after Zeta, only in WFC (Or some other continuity that isn't movieverse or G1) does Zeta Prime come right before Optimus.

As soon as I saw the title for this article, the first thing that came to mind was "Hey look, it's Nom-Nom-Nom-Nominus Prime!". No lie, thats wxactly what I thought. In other words, the design looks really great!

Um... Hello! All other Primes are land based vehicles because they were Autobots. Autobots are SUPPOSED to be land based. That's been established since day one. The design looks really cool and all but this guy especially if dated way back before Sentinel Prime should be a land based vehicle. Decepticons mastered the ability of flight only in the time of Orion Pax if we're going to go with G1 history. This just makes no sense. Am I wrong?

Weren't they neutral scientists and not associated with either faction?

This doesn't take place within the G1 universe... or does it? If it does, I apologize, never read Ongoing before.
