Thundercracker and Skywarp demise

In the old movie, Thundercracker and Skywarp are not injured when they enter Aerotrain yet they were when the decepticons started to throw the injured out. Did They coneheads beat them up? They seem really eager to get rid of them and they were around Starscream during his cornation. Maybe they beat up Thundercracker and Skywarp because they were lackeys for Megatron but so were coneheads?

Has a point, in the movie, T-cracker ( didn't see Skywarp though)was shown entering Astrotrain under his own power. It was Megs and the Insecticons that look like they went thru a meat grinder.

Despite still being ambulatory, they were still severely injured. Thundercracker took a number of blasts from Optimus Prime's rifle.

You don't see what happens to Skywarp, but the same thing presumably happened to him. After landing, Prime fires a number of shots and we don't see where most of them go. Skywarp presumably caught a few of them.

Plus Skywarp, Thundercracker (and Starscream) had their toys out on the shelves from year 1, meaning they had to go, no matter what.

They could have skipped the battle on Autobot city, sat down and had a cup of tea instead, and they still would have been thrown out of Astrotrain.

Didn't they turn into sweeps?

Thundercracker was remade into Scourge. and Shrapnel and Kickback were remade into Sweeps. Both Bombshell and Skywarp were made into Cyclonus, one of which immediately disappears and is replaced by a third sweep. As for who actually remained, that's an age-old debate. Doesn't matter in the end, really.

I think Skywarp & Thundercracker were gonna get tossed out regardless. Still, they could've kicked out Blitzwing or anybody else that was shot by Prime. Still, Blitzwing had just come out so, you know.............

In a way it would have been better for Blitzwing to die in battle, more glorious than being fired in season 3.

It stinks that TC and SW were made into Cyclonus and Scourge. They are just so ugly...

Well Skywarp is alive and kicking during Beast Machines.

I think both Skywarp and Thundercracker took serious damage, had the Transformer equivalent to a monster adrenaline rush and were able to get their afts aboard Astrotrain before falling over like a sack of hammers. You'd be surprised what you can do when you've got a sufficiently large adrenaline rush going.

I noticed in the movie Skywarp was running alongside with Thrust when they were retreating. And that Long haul was carrying a beat down Kickback. So maybe somebody helped Thundercracker get aboard Astrotrain.

You could always use the default theory of "more background Seeker lookalikes".

But the mugging theory is a pretty cool idea. The Coneheads could've seen this as an opportunity to upstage the older, more recognized Seekers to move up the food chain.

Interesting note: if you pull out the checklist for the 3rd series (movie era) of TF toys, Starscream is still pictured there with the Conehead Seekers and Scourge & Cyclonus. Was that a blunder or was 'Screamer still available for awhile longer?

Even more interesting, why are Thundercracker and Skywarp present at Starscream's coronation?

So are the insecticons.

That's an animation error.

And a big one at that. But seriously, take a look at that statue!

Keep in mind, Shrapnel also possessed Soundwave in "Fight or Flee." Galvatron says something to Soundwave, where he creepily responds: (Correct VA and everything) "As you command, Galvatron!Galvatron!

Is he a ghost too, possessing people like Starscream does?

Maybe it's not an animation mistake after all, maybe their ghosts have come back to watch Galvatron destroy the guy who left them to die!

That would be just creepy. So Starscream would not be the only one to come back as a ghost, others can too.

What's wrong with creepy? Much-beloved characters on both sides get to make a comeback... but not in the way anybody expected.
