I doubt we'll ever get Transformers: Zone subbed on DVD in the U.S.

After having found out about all the censorship done to the subtitles on the DVDs of The Headmasters, Masterforce, and Victory, I'm no longer holding out for a DVD release of Transformers: Zone.

Why have I given up hope? Well, simply because Hasbro seemed to take enough offense with some of the content from the first three Japanese G1 series (renaming the Breastforce as the PC-sounding "Chestforce", cutting out subs for dialogue talking about reincarnation, etc.). If they're so much a "family-based company" to be bothered by those little things, then what chance does Zone have without some major reworkings to its content?

What "content" does Zone have I'm speaking of? Well, the human sidekicks. Two young boys, Cain and Akira. Two effeminately-designed boys. Who are underage. And are pretty apparently homosexual. With each other.

Let that sink in for a moment. |:|

If Hasbro/Shout! are bothered by kids watching these DVDs and being exposed to such mildly questionable concepts as the mentioning of the word "breast" and what "reincarnation" entails, I strongly doubt that apparent implications of homosexuality between two underage boys will fly well with them enough to let Zone get released without some major editing done to its content.

Reincarnation got dubbed OUT? After ROTF? 1986? Every other comic? That, kids, is hilarious.

O brother, it'll be Uranus and Neptune from Sailor Moon S all over again. >:oP

Dubbed? Dubbing has nothing to do with this. What they did was edit the subtitles of that scene to avoid saying what was being said.

You seem surprised. Haven't you seen Zone?

O, I have, and originally I thought Cain was a girl... It was the long hair

Seriously though, I don't understand the phobia.

Before seeing it myself, I mistook Akira as being the girl (the skimpy clothing and the haircut threw me off).

But anyway, with them being in there the way they are, chances are Zone won't see an official release from Hasbro stateside. :-(

Doesn't make it any less stupid.

True.

Though, in an official dub, one of the boys would likely be given a gender change.

I tought TF-Zone was only ONE episode before they pull off the plug?

TF Zone IS very VERY BAD so just watching the hillariously bad fandub on Youtube should be enough.

The combiners come in with capes and swords that give them the power to destroy entire planets.
Annoying cute animal mascot.
Product placement in the form of a Micromaster base doing random things.
Battle scenes conveniently set to show off possible toys and their modes.
That boy who dont give a fawk that his home planet was just destroyed.

Sigh..............

The only good thing going to that cartoon is the high quality of it's animation.

It is one episode, yes. There were plans to make it a series of OVAs, but only one got made.

No, that fandub is VERY BAD. Zone in Japanese is much better.

-Kanrabat- wrote:The combiners come in with capes and swords that give them the power to destroy entire planets.
The powers come form Violen Jiger, not from their attire. They're the Nine Great Demon Generals.

Emus'a harmless.

Product placement in a toyetic Transformers cartoon?! Say it isn't so!

Because that totally never happened in any other Transformers series. :P

He's a side character who's not the focus. We're supposed to be more engaged in the bots.

This is where Metrotitan comes from, right? He's supposed to be Violen Jiger's space vehicle, as well as one of the Generals?

I've seen the episode, but couldn't really understand anything. It was in Japanese, after all.

Yes, but he's from after the episode, in the story pages.

Rodimus Prime wrote:He's supposed to be Violen Jiger's space vehicle, as well as one of the Generals?
Neither. He's a new warrior schooled in the ways of evil by the Generals and has power equal to all of them. But he doesn't appear until after they are all defeated, and Violen Jiger doesn't ride him or anything.

There should be subbed versions floating around on YouTube somewhere, as well as on both the Metrodome and Madman DVDs (well, those DVDs had to use the subtitled bootleg instead of being able to sub it themselves).
