I'm sure this a question everyone has, what the hell happened to him to make him look so messed up? I mean why's he never gone into a CR chamber to fix himself up?

What're your opinions?

Perhaps it's a code of honour type thing.

Bludgeon's just trying to look cool...and morbid. The dude didn't even have a jaw! But hey, Shockwave doesn't really have a face, and it's not like they can't communicate.

I think the rationale for Bludgeons appearance is that when he and his cult stayed on Cybertron after it was abandoned they had a lack of resources and parts and they used every available part for his crusade to resurrect Thunderwing for the events of Stormbringer. When they needed certain replacement parts they didnt have any.

As I recall none of the Pretenders there seemed to be in great shape.

Also, considering that they wanted to use the Technobots for spare parts after capturing them lends some credence to this.

Plus, Bludgeon was batcrap crazy in Stormbringer so he just might not cared how he looked.

Bludgeon just wants to look scary, hence why his pretendershell looks like Skeletor's ugly brother.

I think we have more to learn about Bludgeon and the remainging pretenders...my guess is that they will come back to it.

I hope not. I'm sick of the pretenders already. Their story is over and finished with. Bring on Sixshot!

As for the lack of resources, fair enough. But why did he still look like death warmed over when talking to Megs, well before the abandonment of Cybertron? There was enough resources then.

Well for not obviously no... they seem to be going into headmaster, movie character, and micromaster areas, but what I am saying is, while that is happening perhaps we will learn more, not focus on them. :P

Aah, like when Prime said 'if it's the same Ultra Energon I encountered on Cybertron'? Yeah, references and unwinding mysteries I won't mind.

The most obvious reason for Bludgeon's appearance is that the artists were attempting to pay homage to the character's Pretender shell (the same with the other Pretender characters). Since the Pretender shells would not be featured (at least not heavily), the artists wanted features on the robots that would make them somewhat recognizable.

I think Xephon meant why he is missing a jaw, his right arm is just skeletal when his left has proper armour on it etc. But adding on to what you wrote, they probably also wanted to display how much of a change there was when he went into his pretender shell. After all, he was the only one seen in it.

Perhaps he was in the process of getting repaired by his shell, but did not want to stay in it, for long periods of time, for fear of 'The THUNDERWING Curse' or craziness, so he stayed out more than he was in, and thus, was not getting repaired very quickly, but was still functional.

I don't know, that's for sure!
