I am sure that the War Within, Vol. 3: The Age of Wrath story arc was never finished. But how many of the issues were actually released?

Only 3 unfortunately. Just as it might be getting good, Dreamwave went under, so the War Within ended like crap. Some people got all stoked about the Turbomasters or whatever those losers were called showing up, but I favor a good story over obscure character inclusion, so I frown on its' ending.
Like, who cares that the Turbomasters were shown in vol. 3? Do we know how it ends? No. So we have the Turbomasters but no real storyline, so f!@# it.

Thanks for answering my question.

Chris Ryall has occaisionally posted about the possibility of properly finishing some of the DW material at IDW. The gist of recent posts has been that as more time passes this becomes harder to justify and less likely to happen but if anything were to be done along these lines WW3 would be his top priority.
The only way that I can see for anything like this to be done profitably would be to put out the first three issues again, but under the IDW banner as individual issues before finishing off the series with the last three. You really couldn't just put a title onto the market starting with issue four and it wouldn't make sense cost wise to skip doing it in individual issues and go straight to the TPB even if half the art is already done.
Personally I'd love to see this happen, despite not letting myself believe that it ever really will. If nothing else it would be a good excuse to get Joe Ng back onto a TF book. Presumably there would have been art ready at some stage of production for issue four when DW went under, although I've never come across any online. There is art floating around from what would have been the next couple of issues of the ongoing, but I don't think the WW titles were ever that far ahead of press time.

You dissin the Turbomasters?
Hopefully IDW will be able to get permission to publish the final 3 issues of WWi 3, It is only 3 issues, so there is more a chance of them eventually getting the permissions, rather than say, the ongoing, and its how-ever many issues it would need to close the arc.

I wish it IDW would be able to make it happen myself. But it seems like the legal fall out from Lee and DW will never end

I believe that technically the rights have reverted to Hasbro but the legal issues are with the liquidators and to do with where revenue from the material would go. Could be wrong though.

Where the profits go is a massive conundrum.
Obviously Pat Lee deserves nothing.
But the writers, artists inkers etc deserve to be paid for their work, and IDW also deserves to make a profit from the sales of the book too, since they would be forking out for the printing costs. (at the very least, as far as I am aware, the artwork for issues 5 and 6 had not even started)
Im sure it will eventually get settled, just not any time soon.
