I wished some Japanese publishing company would bank roll a F.Dery Transformers art compilation the way they do for artists like Ni theta, Satoshi U, Kei Komori etc.

This would surely sell (just don't make it hardbound)

Unicron's horns look so big and fat that they look less like devil horns and more like Wolverine's hairdo. :P

And what's with the "sliding into homeplate" pose? :P

Fellow Seibertronian Cyberpath keeps an eye on the activities of concept artist Floro Dery, the mind and hands behind several setting of the original Transformers: The Movie (1986). The latest print offered is the artist's recent rendition of the Chaos Bringer, Unicron (not the actual art used for the movie) - check it out below, and head here to purchase this wonderful piece of art!

MY 2014 VERSION OF UNICRON

Unicron rips Cybertron apart as Autobot and Decepticon warships attack. Also shown are Mini-Unicron and the five moons of Cybertron.

Goddamn that is awesome, we need that artbook to finally come out, the prints while incredible, are just too far out of my price range.

But daaaayum, look at all the stuff that's going on in there, sadly the digital preview is too small to makeout everything so it looks a bit like a mess, but what you can makeout is amazing.

Edit:
So reading the description, this isn't actual concept art from the movie, but seems to be something he did last year.

Yeah, I edited the story to have that be clearer.

Whilst I'm aware of Floro Dery's... eccentricities... for me, Dery IS Transformers. Whilst he only fully did the character models in-full from series 2, he had a part in series 1, helping bridge what I would call the East\West design bridge. His contribution to Transformers:The Movie changed our favorite robots forever and his design cues live on even today.

Wish I could afford a print :(

He doesn't strike me as eccentric to be honest. At least no more than your average artist. He's very imaginative. Always interesting to read where he draws inspiration from.

It's amazing how Floro's new work looks good as as ever.

This Ariel design was used. I think Floro meant that her character was rebuilt as Elita 1 by Alpha Trion on the show.

A little about his processes: someone asked why his designs sometimes feature a copy with exposed internal parts, to which Floro answered:

Style. Besides, it's practical to start from something that's complicated and then simplify it.

Gorgeous prismas and watercolors. Has a Moebius (RIP) style to it, bordering on fine art. Dig that exposed gadgetry for Ariel. Not too invasive but I can see why an artist wouldn't want to render for any project requiring sequential art.

Wow, it would be amazing to have some of the scenery artwork framed. I'd love to have some of those hanging on my wall. It's a shame that the Etsy shop only has a Unicron print :(

A truck-load of Floro Dery artwork from his blog and his Etsy "FDartstudio" account (many of these are no longer available from there but were mirrored prior to their being sold). All of this is mostly from season 2 and season 3 of the G1 cartoon, the G1 movie, and some early/unused concepts from either:
