Only some of the comics that are packaged with the Generations figures are original material, right? For example, Orion Pax was packaged with his IDW Spotlight issue. The rest are reprints of either MTMTE/RID ongoing, correct?

They're all original material, just re-released later than the regular comics release for the series they belong to.
The first six (OP, BB, TC, Megatron, Trailcutter and Hoist) form the Dark Prelude/Spotlights collection, and the others are from the MTMTE and RID ongoings, all the way into the Dark Cybertron event. But even the Spotlights are part of the same narrative, continuity and settings (and writers, Barber and Roberts, and Roche on Megatron)!

they weren't originated for the toys they're packed with though, like say, the old pack-in Armada comics or the ones that came with MOTU back in the day. Pretty sure that Hasbro and IDW worked together to make sure that the characters getting the toys were featured somewhat more in particular issues of the comics that would get packed in though.

That's debatable for some of them (I'm trying to think of a specific example now, but I've drawn a blank..), but overall, yes, that seemed to be the approach!

oh yeah, definitely. I can just imagine the Hasbro reps sitting down, handing Barber and Roberts a couple of drinks and going "so, you guys really like Tankor, don'tcha? sure you do!"

Hey, the whole Autobot Megatron was a Hasbro idea after all.
