If I want to get all of them?
Woohoo! It's a great time, hope you enjoy it. For the souvenirs, bring $450. If you don't want Kreons, $400. If that ends up being too much, then hey, just spend it in the dealer room (or be responsible and re-deposit it but, eh, that's no fun!)

That'd be pretty stellar. Maybe a few color tweaks from that to make it closer to the Transmetal version if they went with the FoC tooling of that, or some hybrid with the TAV torso and FoC dino legs?

Some of the new TAV Battle Grimlock parts are not compatible with the FoC parts from what I hear. Sounds odd to say at first, I know. But for instance, I have heard that the TAV chest has a different neck from the FoC edition, meaning the heads are not swappable.

Sounds correct. I've got both and haven't tried to go swapping parts but the TAV one is much more precise, especially when getting the shoulders to lock in, so it wouldn't surprise me if things can't just be moved around from one thing to another!

Anyone else find it odd the "centerpiece" figure isn't included in the box set? I mean, I get that you have to entice people with attendee-only figures, but what purpose does the box set serve when the convention organizers say there's a better figure not included in it? Last year we had Oilmaster in the box set, and the year before that we had Scorponok; both unique, arguably the figures that sold their respective sets.

While I'm actually liking Predacus a lot more than I thought I would, I'm feeling tentative about getting any of these guys. If the best figure in this year's convention is an attendee only figure (and apparently sold individually, along with other non-troop builder figures), maybe it's wiser to skip getting the box set.

It's not really attendee only, sure the people that go get first crack at it but for the rest of us that can't go should still be able to get that figure on the club store once the convention is over

I wouldn't count on that this year since previous reports have stated the centerpiece figure to be very limited this year to increase its value.

Ah okay I didn't know that, thanks. Any idea on the other figures? I know they haven't been revealed yet but the only ones that have peaked my interest are the troop builder and the cw deluxe souvenir figure.

Other things being equal, they very well might have made the centerpiece part of the box set, but I imagine that providing a complete combiner was considered even more important.

Seriously, can't you imagine the outrage if only some of a combiner's components were included in the box set?

I understand not wanting to produce too much so that it doesn't sale. But I don't understand making less of something with the specific purpose of helping scalpers make more money. I just do not get that.

"Helping scalpers" really isn't what that means.

They don't want to have to reduce the price on leftover back stock because that is seen as reducing the figures' value. Because, well, it is.

The value of the Machine Wars souvenirs right now is $10, which is absurd for something that is supposed to be an awesome keepsake souvenir of your trip out to the convention. So they want to avoid having to do anything like that again; they want the toys to retain their value for the sake of those attendees that buy them at the show so they don't feel "ripped off" later.

Is this so limited that my Friday @noon arrival is going to put my chances of obtaining it in jeopardy?

In a sense, this kind of question is impossible to answer. If FunPub had their way, they'd have exactly as many of every toy available so that everyone at the convention could get exactly as many of each toy as they want, but end up with zero toys left over at the end. They have raised and lowered numbers over the years as they figure out what sells and what doesn't, but there's always a bit of a guessing game about what toys will actually prove popular and which ones won't (note, for example, that the so-called "Rainmakers" had more sets made than any other BotCon exclusive in history, yet were the only toys to sell out by the end of BotCon 2013, and had done so by the end of the day Saturday).

That said, I can't think of a precedent for a mid-day Friday sell-out, so you're probably pretty safe regardless.

I don't think he's attending in an official capacity. He goes to most of these as a regular guest i believe. But it's cool he does go to these, he's a awesome guy to talk to in person.
