Comparing my Springer in hand to the previous two pics, Springer's head seems wider mostly because of the two spikes running along the sides of his cheeks towards the back of his head, which slightly angle outward from both the left and right sides of his head. Without those spikes, his and Battletrap's heads appear to be roughly the same width.

As for how high the head is set on the neck, the Battletrap pic seems to have the head tilted all the way up to let the head look forward for a better shot of it from the camera, whereas the Springer pic has the head slightly tilted down forward to give the impression of it being lower. But in reality, Springer's head can be tilted just as high up as Battletrap's head is as seen in the first pic.

In other words, both heads are pretty much the same width and same height placement.

Either I have a thing for bots with a blue and white color scheme, or the Rattrap mold looks so much better as Packrat

Both figures appear to have a number stamped on their (robot) face in gold. Is that because these are prototypes, or is that part of the figure design, like some obscure reference?

They're production samples, not final.

To those who noticed that something is off with Battletrap's head, there does appear to be something off. The pics that will be in my gallery look like the head isn't pushed down all the way on the ball joint or something like that. I didn't notice it while I was taking the pictures and I don't have the figure in hand to see if it's something that can be fixed or adjusted. In the photo below, you can clearly see that there is clearance underneath the head.

DSC05979.jpg

It seems the bottom of Springer's head is flush with the top of his neck, whereas there is clearance on Battletrap's upper neck where you can see the bottom of the ball joint. Hopefully this can be corrected with an easy fix or adjustment to the final figures.

I tried a Botcon box set once, the 'days of deception' one with all the seekers in it. Then they put out Dirge, Thundercracker and Thrust generations figures, making the box set worthless. Since then I've avoided the novelty repaints....

So you had the seekers first and enjoyed them for over a year before Takara gave everyone else a chance to enjoy them ? :-?

Ever checked the ebay prices on Dreadwind and Bugbite ? I paid $300 and $160 and the prices haven't gone down. You got your moneys worth.

For the record, the "top secret" guy is NOT Stepper. I can't launch the gallery yet but hopefully next Thursday or the following Thursday I can.

I was floored when I saw what Bug Bite was going for. couldn't part with mine, but was awful tempted to. And Dreadwing, what's got his price so high? Are there that many fans of him?

Too much blue.
I'd prefer if they gave him red optics and a silver face.
The original toy was bland looking. You'd expect an expensive update to look better

Botcon Dreadwind went up when the Renderform add on set became available for TRU Darkwing. Everybody wants the pair. Mastershooter Collectibles also did a very limited run of targetmasters for them in the colors of the G1 Powermaster figures.

Botcon has the worst marketing strategy ever. They should just reveal everything including the convention exclusives the day before registration goes live. They should be like "this is what we got, come n get it". My favorite reveal will be when the exclusives start showing up on Taobao a month before the convention.

The most recent Seibertron.com gallery is not the next reveal from the Transformers Collectors' Club BotCon set, but rather an exclusive from the G.I. Joe Con in Springfield, IL and revealed almost a year ago: Marissa Faireborn and Afterbreaker This exclusive "G.I. Joe and the Transformers" set will be sold by both the Transformers Collector's Club and the G.I. Joe Collector's Club.

Special thanks to Pete Sinclair from the Transformers Collector's Club for letting Seibertron.com have an exclusive preview of this exciting set.

I know, I'm waiting for confirmation on this. I knew Afterburner, but Seibertron asked us for Afterbreaker.

I'll edit in case. :)

Kind of a plain Jane figure. The bike looks cool, not calling it Afterburn is awesome, 'cause then he can be something else-- in combiner wars. Not that he couldn't be in both spots. One more for the GI joe and Transformers set.

I haven't seen it myself, but I've seen TFWiki refer to the figure as Afterbreaker on Twitter and apparently the April/May club mag does as well. Possible the name Afterburner was unavailable and had to be renamed. Still better than some of replacement names we've seen recently.
