you want to blame someone for a devcon and scorponok?

Devcon and Scorponok are G1 characters. They have nothing to do with knights and pirates unless some bonehead decides to make them into knights and pirates.

Usually 4-6 months ahead. This year is oddly late.

I expect registration next week or the one after, since they would just now be getting back from Joecon.

As far as General Admission "tickets" for Saturday and Sunday, those are not available in advance, you just show up and buy them. Doesn't get you into anything except the dealer room, which includes the club store and artist alleys/hasbro booth/etc.

And the panels. I did General Admission in 2010 and got to got to the weekend panels.

Ah, did not know that, but it's indeed correct! http://www.botcon.com/botcon2013/genadm13.cfm

Got my magazine today. Some points:

* Registration is scheduled at the end of April
* Expect TFSS 2.0 to start shipping by the end of May.
* "We've been waiting for several months for confirmations about this 30th Anniversary Convention's centerpiece activity!" Probably why there's been a delay on info about the convention itself.
* Explanation as to why there's a delay with the new Club site: the company working on it got hung up really badly with another project. "Expect to see the new TCC site any day!"
* Anniversary sale about to go down on the Club Store sometime at the end of April.

Sneak peak at this year's BotCon comic:

* Really nice artwork. Reminds me a little of "Invasion".
* Cannonball seems to use one of his swords as a hook. All five panels he appears in in the preview has him with his right hand deployed with the sword.
* Ferak has a Star Seeker tattoo... on his right horn (why...?). He's also got a little gold chain around his neck with a little nuke at the end of it. Gangsta.
* Tornado's all sorts of adorable. Almost seems to act like an innocent child (no speaking lines, though)

Write up about Beast Wars. Have yet to read the entirety of it.

Write up about Corey Burton. Haven't read it yet.

Beast Wars: Uprising's "Alone Together"... whoa. That's all I can say. Spotlight's all on Rampage/Protoform X, who's been dumped on a barren planet left to starve. He crash lands, and is all sorts of messed up from the landing (could barely recognize him at first). As the panels keep going, he slowly regenerates into his "base form": his TFCC toy. Keeps seeing dark shapes and blasting at it (based on the first one, it's Transmutate). After running around, he finds tracks and, giddy to go on the hunt, transforms into his mode and follows the trail. Oddly, he refers to vehicle modes as "change form". Artwork is gorgeous, kinda reminds me of IDW.

Some artwork on Cannonball, Ferak and Tornado, and Devcon. Looks really, really nice. Cannonball still has the hook/blade hand, although now it's on the left rather than the right.

A couple logs by Tornado, subjects being Squirm and Olin Zarak (full body, colored artwork for both to boot). Seems as though there's a rivalry between Tornado and Squirm. Squirm's kinda a dick. Olin goes on this tirade as to how he came to possession of Scorponok

The I.Q part is (of course) based on pirates. Trivia lists three different versions of Cannonball: Cybertron, "the 10th", Generation One Cannonball (as in the BotCon character), "the 5th"... and a surprise entry, there apparently was a Cannonball in the Robots in Disguise continuity, "the 8th"! Kinda looks like Actionmaster Starscream, but with the head and deco of Cannonball (get to it, customizers!)

Man, that's late for registration, but in line with what I expected at this point. Good to know!

TFSS 2.0 shipping at the end of May, Botcon is three weeks into June, yep, it's all coming in the same shipment again this year.

Excited about this supposed "Centerpiece activity". If it isn't a showing of TF4 at the theater next door or at the Paramount studios, then I have no idea what else they'd be doing.

Oddly, no... it didn't even show off Scorponok. Just the first three reveals.

Though it did refer to the Knight faction as "Knights of Cybertron". Hmmm...

The Pirates are on their way! But Cybertron is not defenseless. Noble, wise, and loyal to the cause, the KNIGHTS OF CYBERTRON are steadfast in their protection of their homeworld. Any villainy that dare threaten the planet will be met with valiant courage, unwavering will, and Cybertron's greatest warriors!

Technically, a "tattoo" on horn would be scrimshaw, not a tattoo. :P

I don't think we should assume much from the name, since IDW and Fun Pub operate independently from one another.

This would just mean we'd have more than one group in the multiverse called the "Knights of Cybertron". One group of ancient, mythical knights (IDW's), and one group of contemporary knights from the year 2047 (Fun Pub's).

P.S. - Cool! Yours and my magazines came on the same day. :D

While I got you on the line... would you say that Robots in Disguise Cannonball looks like Actionmaster Starscream like I described? I look at it, and it doesn't look quite like Starscream, but I can't seem to think of a better match.

It looks like a mishmash of many things to me. Enough to make it also look like its own original design.

But the face does remind me of Heavy Load's and Hightower's faces.

EDIT: According to David Willis, it's based on Action Master Sprocket with Starscream legs and null rays added and then painted in Cannonball colors.

EDIT: And some Mirage bits, according to Jesse Wittenrich.

Finally! I was beginning to wonder when the last box set reveal will be.

Now to decide whether I want MP-11 Starscream or this year's BotCon box set as a graduation gift...

Why couldn't they just, you know, draw a robot? Why does everything have to be a homage of 8 other homages of a shoe? :BANG_HEAD:

Because originality would rape Geewunner's childhoods.

Does it matter?

I mean, what is this thing homaging by using existing design elements? Who cares if his body parts were taken from someplace instead of being made up?

The only homaging element is this design is its deco, which is due to that being the traditional Cannonball deco.

After a fiasco over at TFW about what the final toy reveal might be, Pete Sinclair had to step in to clear up matters, and in the process revealed that the final toy is a Voyager!

For those curious, a guy over there claimed to know what the last toy was, hinting that it will be A) a Voyager (this turned out to be true), B) a mold used by Fun Pub before, C) a must have, D) a "power master" (not clear if he meant "Powermaster", "Power Master", "Powered Master", "Godmaster", "Brainmaster", etc.), and E) a CHUG mold. He later admitted to be trolling.

Jesus to the H. friggin' Christ, they were not kidding when they said all the figures would barely fit in the box.

If the final box set reveal turns out to be just as nerdgasmic as Scorponok was, I will be eternally pissed, as it'll force me to make a decision to splurge on this or MP-11 Starscream.

In other words, if it's Voyager class Knight of Cybertron Wheelie/Bumblebee, my faith in humanity will be lost.

It's a Voyager amalgamated Weeliebee, who's also the new Prime and a member of the Original 13.
