The best Tank Mode ever

Transformers franchise is already 25-years + old, with multiple generations to pick. So i quess that there is enough Tank modes to pick are favorite ones. After all, what is more epic that Giant Robot transforming into giant tank? What's you favorite Tank-modes in the franchise?

1. ROTF Megatron- despite pretty much everything in ROTF was terrible, it's hard to deny that Megatron's Tank Mode was cool. It is big, alien looking and heavy armored machine of destruction witch can fly! It is really hard to top that
2. Beast Wars Rampage - I quess that his vechicale mode qualify, right? I mean, his tank mode is kinda akward, but so is he. Also I think it feets his personality perfectly.
3. Armada Megatron - It is kinda silly that Aramda was first series where Megatron had a proper vechicale mode (Transmetal Megatron is fo me still a flying T-Rex). But his Tank mode really screem "I'm the boss!", also for Tank Standards he is enormous and he have a decent firepower (sadly, it was rarely used in show)

Honorable Mentions are both Brawl's (G1 and Bayverse) and Prime Shockwave.

So how about you?

The best tank mode ever is ANY tank that is not a neutered Megatron.

My personal favorite is Movieverse Legends/Legions Guzzle because they really captured the WWII vibe.

What about Megastorm or the CW version? Does it pass your standard?

Leader Brawl might be the best tankformer ever, IMO. Perfectly captured the 2007-vibe. But Armada Megs the first Megatron with a good vehiclemode? G2 Megatron did a decent enough job, articulation wasn't what it is now, but for his time, he was pretty great.

Guzzle is great. He needs a Generations toy, but bigger.

I would have to say G1 Hardhead with Headmaster Duros is one of the best. :KREMZEEK:

Nobody's mentioned PCC Heavytread yet? His tank mode is perfect.
2oo7 movie leader brawl. I miss him.
Generations blitzewing's tank mode is awesome.
Does FOC Megatron count? He never got a toy, but I love his alt mode.

G1 Hardhead

If there's one thing G1 did well it was futuristic Cybertronian modes like Hardhead, Afterburner, Cyclonus and Hot Rod

RotF Bludgeon
Generations CW Megatron (should have always been a tank from the very beginning... handgun NEVER made any sense)
2007 movie Brawl
RotF Megatron (throwing in a non-realistic quite stylish one for some variety)

Um. I'm all out. Never cared much for Warpath and such.

Armada Megatron is to date my favourite Megatron design ever, so I'm voting for him. I just wish he wasn't such a brick...

I didn't think it was that great. Armada Megatron's tank mode looks too similar to a regular tank

I did enjoy Warpath, and Bludgeon looks really neat in his tank mode. And even though I don't have him yet, leader Megatron looks fantastic. And what's this I hear about working treads?

Yes, he has working threads. The last toy to have that was beast wars rampage.

Actually, Armada Scavenger (and his redeco, Energon Treadbolt) had them too.

Not a Transformer, but Super Gobot Destroyer had a really good tank mode.

Carnivius_Prime wrote:Generations CW Megatron (should have always been a tank from the very beginning... handgun NEVER made any sense)

It made sense because they weren't creating Transformers from scratch, they were repurposing existing Japanese toys for the line, and they had a transforming gun but not a transforming tank (at the time). Realistic toy guns were still popular (and legal) in America at the time, most kids had either a cap gun or a water gun or something like that, no orange neon dayglo stuff, it made all the sense in the world. How were they to foresee that someday people would get all reactionary about gun stuff and make it so that the character would need a new alt mode?

I think more to the point it never made sense fictionally. Quite aside from the mass-shifting (which is dumb as hell) you end up with the leader of the Decepticons, a nigh-on invincible tyrant who fights from the front lines...turning into something that requires one of his lackeys to hold for it to be any use. It can't move on its own and it's of no use without someone to hold it. It's like if Darth Vader turned into his own lightsaber for a stormtrooper to wield. It's stupid as all hell. If it was one of his minions turning into a gun for him to wield, maybe, but for the leader of the Decepticons to adopt such a useless alt mode...nah.

It could have been written in as the Decepticons on Earth being nearly completely destroyed except for Megatron, who needs to access something in a guarded human installation as a power source to repair himself and revive his army, so he uses a one-shot reformatter to reformat himself as one of the guards' guns to sneak past security due to being so low on power that a frontal attack might not work (and/or would summon the Autobots who could finish him off).

It could even have been written so it wasn't just Megatron, but Megatron, Soundwave, and Reflector. I don't think we ever saw the repair systems in the Ark working on their altmodes specifically in the cartoon - Megatron gets revived in his robot mode, so possibly he wasn't damaged enough to require reformatting. I'm not familiar enough with the 80s comics to know whether Megatron's altmode was specifically shown being changed to an Earth gun for the first time.
