Well, this week my beloved CW Silverbolt just started showing some signs of cracking on the thinner plastic that connects to the joint which flips out to revela his combiner head. Anyone elese having this problem? Any way to solve it before it breaks off?

This might be the expensive route but get a new Silverbolt. The other route would be if you are into it (modeling vehicles), modeling putty if that part can be disassembled safely. But that too in the long run would also be an even expensive route.

*This reminds me of Prowl II from RID. The shoulder joint of mine cracked for no apparent reason (Left it in car mode but it still cracked and broke).

There have been several reports of the Combiner Head breaking off on Silverbolt, in that exact place. Design flaw, or use of excessive force?

this happened to my first version, RK were nice enough to send me a new torso section of Silverbolt after I sent them the pics - below is a copy/paste of what I've posted here in the past.

I think it's a combination of a few things - plastic being too thin at the point of breaking, the clips that hold that section into his chest being a little too strong (my Cyclonus doesn't have this problem) and the little stubs of plastic that prevent the piece from rotating accidentally being a little too long. I haven't noticed this on my newer Silverbolt and he's been transformed more often, so either I'm being more careful or there was just a bad few batches (could be both?) - hmmm a quick check shows some stress marking, but no where near as much as shown below.

Just broke Silverbolt. Right near the hinges of the piece where Superion's head is attached to.

Still holds together for now, but the other side is also seriously showing strain.... Be careful when you transform him!

Not the sharpest pics (hand-holdings manual focus macro lense is not easy) but it's still clear....

left side (serious stress marks)

It's obvious from the underside too (the part that becomes Silverbolt's lower chest - but not risking another transformation here.

Between this and the floppy head on Prime, I'm not having the best of luck

the worst part about it is with that piece broken off, the chest panels aren't held in place as tight, meaning when there's a bot attached as an arm, the weight pulls on Silverbot's leg out of place slightly, meaning there's a slight gap in the middle of Superion's chest

Interesting. I had a broken Skydive figure yesterday. The post for the screw that connects the bottom and top halves of his nosecone had snapped in half, so the two halves were no longer holding together. I'm not even sure why it would have split. Maybe when Superion tipped over when I did the galleries for Quickslinger and Brake-Neck? I superglued it together on the inside posts and pegs. It's unfortunate to hear about various Combiner Wars figures breaking already and they've only been out since Christmas.

Unlike the G1 figs that took at least a decad to break apart(seriously, it happened to me twice)

Exchange it. I dont know about your area, but silverbolt is shelfwarming my walmart. If I get a dud, I have no shame in getting a replacement. Its my money.

And before somebodys feathers gets ruffled, let it be known I show the defective part to the customer service lady. If they decide to tape it up and re-sell it, thats on them, not me. I feel no guilt. I once saw toys-r-us put back on the shelf a GDO Hotspot I exchanged with 2 left fists. I showed them the flaw, so f**k it. Its not like they paid for my gas for the 2nd trip.

I got my Silverbolt from RK, so they shipped me a new torso with my next order, the break happened on day 2 or 3.

I did buy an AoE Platinum Voyager OP/ Grimlock they had Primes arm snap off later that day, took it back, showed the flaw, and grabbed a replacement.

I feel the same way, except I put a sticky note describing the problem on the inside bubble/window and then reseal it so they have to work really hard to remove my note about the problem.

My Skydive did the same thing just yesterday...

Ouch. What I would try to do is pour some crazy glue on a piece of paper, dip a toothpick in krazy glue and rub it inside the part. Then try to get rid of that seam with white paint.

It looks pretty. I hope you can fix it
