It's official, ladies and gents; even kids today who didn't grow up with the '84 cartoons prefer G1 Optimus to AoE OP. >:oP

Let's put it this way: this is not news. But it is entertaining, enlightening, fits easily with our recent contributor piece of the Top Ten G1 Episodes and the existence and presence on Seibertron.com for many adult collectors. From the YouTube channel series Kids React.., and via fellow user Sabrblade, we have a six minute clip of kids no older than 12 being shown the G1 Transformers for the first time, and comparisons with some of the Paramount/Michael Bay designs and some facts from the franchise.

Some of the kids make great points about the sellable value of the repurposing of the franchise, its appeal to multiple generations, and the effect it could have on the different generations - plus this one: "I think they [G1] could still be cool today, but now that we've been exposed to the movies.. the movies look so different, and that's what we're used to!"

Warning: It'll make a lot of people feel old. For real.

...um......

aren't some of those kids too young to have seen the movie, or is the UK rating just higher?

Yeah I mean my parents were cool, one of my favorite childhood movie's was goodfellas. It gave me an appreciation for goodfeathers on animaniacs.

My parents let me watch Bruce Lee movies when I was 10. I turned out okay...relatively speaking.

I pride myself on being one of those people that father time forgot about. People guess my age to be mid to late 20s and refuse to believe I'm 41 years old. Now after watching these babies reactions to the real Transformers I feel old for the first time in my life. I feel so old now that I don't want to even keep up this charade any longer. I'm old and proud! I want as much distance between myself and this new ignorant generation as possible!

They should have had my 7 year old son up there. He loves the G1 cartoon because I've been watching at least 1 episode a day since 2009 (90% season ONE).

It was interesting to watch but it was also what I expected. I didn't feel old one bit BTW. I wonder what the comparison would have been if it was the Prime series as oppose to the movies? :-? :VEHI:

The one little girl says it all.."I don't care (what it is) as long as I'm watching TV" This explains a lot of my questions about prime time TV

Interesting. Though for the comparisons they should have used the G1 box art.

On a related note, I showed my 3 year old nephew and his 4 year old sister some of the first Bay movie.

At that point they'd only watched Rescue Bots which they like.

It was just wonderful to see the awe in their faces. They knew Bumblebee straight away.

I asked them if they liked it and they did. Wouldn't let me turn it off :)

She also says "As long as it's good."

For comparisons, they should have used screenshots from the film. Or at least the TV. The marvel character sheets are..... not flattering. Interesting how they showed the DW Prime, and all the kids said that one was better.

I loved the bit where the kid does a double take and asks "Did Megatron just turn into a gun??"

To be fair, it looks as if they only saw the introduction theme song and a few Marvel comic character scans, which isn't enough to judge G1. They should have shown them the fight between Megatron and Prime from the animated movie.

Lol I know for a fact that the Fine Bros try to make old series look bad in comparison to the new ones.

Their legit horrible people when it comes to stuff like this which is why I only watch their Youtubers react.

And why is this front paged its not news?

Other non-news things are front-paged, like Will's editorials.

Were any of those similar things submitted to the news team?

I don't know I never really contributed to this sites news until last year and even then it was mostly for movie related news.

Maybe I'm not remembering things correctly.

What I do know is that the Fine Bros manipulate people to have similar opinions to themselves you can tell their either trying to make G1 look bad or their really crap at researching.

Edit: they did the same thing with my Little Pony on Teens react oh boy how furious I was that day.

Yup.

I've watched a few of these before and found them ridiculous. I wasn't surprised at how this played out.
