These are f-ing weird. Looks like they went the Hasbro route of being lazy and just repainting an existing product mold.

More Information On Transformers: Robots in Disguise Radz Candy Dispensers

You'll recall our news story last night regarding the Transformers: Robots in Disguise Radz Candy Dispensers, and you might even recall when we initially reported on these way back in February during our Toy Fair coverage. These have actually been out at retail for quite awhile in two varieties of packaging. One method of purchasing these is to check your local Five Below store, where you'll find these on cards with a clear blister pack. The other is at your local Target store, in a point-of-purchase display that you may find either up near the trading cards or within the regular toy section.

Each comes in its own little baggie.
Image

The back of each bag has a code followed by a letter. The letter is important if you want to know which one you're going to get inside - more on that later in this post.
Image

Inside you'll be greeted by the bizarre terror and/or exciting fun of one of the dispensers themselves. Each also has a little clip on it for you to attach it to stuff and things.
Image

Pull back the hair and it will shout obscenities at you! Well actually, it'll just dispense the candy at this point, which you load up by removing the hair, then pouring inside of the toy. I didn't do this, but I did eat some of the candy. It tasted like extremely generic candy. Sorry that's not more descriptive, but this isn't a site you can expect breakdowns of the subtle notes and food pairings to go with your sugar pellets. Kids will probably find this candy to meet expectations of generic packed in sugar stuff.
Image

Each one of these does come with a little poster unique for each character.
Image

Speaking of characters, the reverse of the poster (and the back of the bag) shows those available. But who could this "mystery" character be?
Image

It's Fixit.
Image

Finally, here's how to identify what character is in the blind-bag based on the letter that follows the numeric code on the back.

  1. Bumblebee
  2. Optimus Prime
  3. Grimlock
  4. Underbite
  5. Steeljaw
  6. Strongarm
  7. Sideswipe
  8. Fixit

Disclaimer: These are my own findings based on one case and purchasing one bag of each letter designation out of the box. Your results may vary if this was somehow a strange fluke, though I doubt it based on the presumable case breakdown. Going by the one I used to gather this information, one each of the mystery character Fixit is in each case, with two each of Grimlock, Underbite, Steeljaw, Sideswipe, and Strongarm. This case seemed to yield a ton of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee figures in the case compared to the others (6 or 7 of each), which makes sense given other current Transformers brand marketing trends.

Hopefully this information helps some of you out there that stumble upon these and either want some fun merchandise of a favorite character, or maybe want to give a surprise stocking stuffer to a young member of your family. Just don't tell them you already knew what the surprise inside was from looking at Seibertron.com, gotta keep a little magic left in the holidays!

Sometime you have to feel sorry for the completest what they are forced to buy by their duty to the hobby.

100s to collect? Sounds excessive. I see only a handful plus each has a special figure version, but that is hardly 100.

Nice job on this Scott! Think you'll do the same with the alt mode blind bags?

I don't do anything I don't want to do :)

No idea, different manufacturer. And I think by hundreds, they probably mean that there are hundreds of Radz dispensers, not hundreds of Transformers ones.

Yeah, that makes way more sense (thought of that afterwords (I swear))
