LGBT Transformer Fans

Hello all,

I was wondering and looking through the forum posts to see if there was anything about this topic already and apparently there was one (but it died out in 2010). So I thought i would re-open this and was wondering if there are any other fans out there that are also LGBT? I feel like among many of my friends, I am like the only gay guy (and I also have like one friend who is into Transformers as I am). So I was hoping by doing this I can make more friends that are LGBT and we can just talk and rant off about Transformers! Woo! C'mon guys! I have Facebook (big surprise there) and we can totally chat it up more there. :D I just don't have many friends to nerd over Transformers with.

Also, please note, I don't want people getting harassed about their sexual orientation, so If you don't like it, please feel free to take that somewhere else, thanks!

-Mark

Hey Mark! There are a few users on the boards that identify as part of the LGBT+ community, including myself (bisexual male) - so welcome! :D

And on LGBT+ themes - are you a More Than Meets the Eye reader at all?

(PS - Do you have a link to the previous thread, so I can see whether to merge or lock? )

I am not a member of the LGBT, but I am a big supporter of it and most of my closest friends are in it. I just wanted to pop by and say you're an awesome guy for starting this thread because not many people would feel up to starting such a thread in this internet-verse. :D

Thank you for the welcome, Dr. Va'al! :D

As far as your question regarding if i read more than meets the eye, I have not. I would like to get started on reading the comics but I am not even sure where to begin, seems like there is so much to read! D:

Also, here is the link to that thread i mentioned previously:

Madeus Prime, I am happy to hear that you are a supporter of the LGBT community, that makes me happy! :D Also, thank you for your comment, trust me, i was very nervous! I wasn't sure whether to post it or not but decided to in the end (as you can see). I am an out of the closet man who just loves Transformers. For me, Beast Wars was what started it for me, getting up early to watch that show with my entire collection of beast war toys surrounding me and battling them in my room, it was great. To this day, it is still a series I hold close to my heart. I related so much to it as well as X-men. Just the saying itself for Transformers, "More than meets the eye". I truly believe that, I am more than what you see me as. People can judge me for being a gay man but I know of all the hardships I endured to get to where I am and how hard I have worked to accomplish what I have. We Transform ourselves to become something so great and I do my best to make sure to be happy, and make people around me laugh and be happy. I am just a fan looking for other fans out there to share my love for the series as well as learn about more of the series itself and watch more of the cartoons and read the comics :) That's why I started this thread as well as meet other cool individuals that are in the LGBT community and there many supporters like yourself :)

I like the name of this thread more, I am FtM but I only like girls so I can't really count myself as gay. It's nice when everyone is included.

I don't really talk about being trans too much, I just wanna have some friends that won't judge me for who I am. I am a regular guy like any other and for the most part I get treated like one. While I am very happy that I succeed in looking the way I want to, sometimes it's like carrying a secret and it is nice to not have that on your shoulders.

I'd like to bring as much positivity to this thread as possible, so I will show my support by posting a cute picture of Chromedome and Rewind.

That was a great share, WreckerJack, and well done on being so open on an internet discussion board. That's really impressive and inspiring. :APPLAUSE:

Marky - as WJ has just posted that image of Chromewind, that is mostly what I was referring to about MTMTE. For a general list, I posted this thread a while ago with the full chronology; ScottyP posted a FAQ for the comics, too, here. Hope these help!

There is a lot to get into, but if you don't want to go all the way back, I'd suggest starting with MTMTE vol 1/RID vol 1. The biggest story leading back into the series from that point forward is Chaos Theory, and we eventually get round to early Spotlight stories and some All Hail Megatron stuff - but nothing, I would say, crucial to understand it all.

MTMTE has some good representation of LGBT+ issues, mostly male-male relationships, though we find a number of ties being brought in at a later stage. Chromedome and Rewind are big names, though there are others too.

Arcee's character, especially after Mairghread Scott and John Barber wrote her arc in recent issues, has some really intriguing perspectives on trans issues, however subtle and still fairly marginal (potentially even overlooked, given the context it's written in).

Hi, I have a penis :) That's the greeting I stole from share with my friend Amelie.

I'm 100% straight male, no plans on changing either, but my soul is at least half feminine and fully embraced it. I've been part of online LGBT communities for years especially the "T" side, no thanks to me being mistaken for a girl all the time (my name doesn't help  ). And frankly, I don't see myself anywhere else.

Glad to see another not afraid to show his/her true nature :APPLAUSE:

Aww, thanks guys!

Thats neat JelZe, all are welcome here. Everyone is different and that's cool. I'm happy that you embrace yourself that is a very positive thing to do.

Btw I am always a he.

That's always good to know. Pronouns can get tricky in these situations, especially on forums/online.

I know that former Seibertron.com admin Ground Zero was openly gay and was a very cool, helpful, and nice guy.

As a straight, middle-class, American, red meat eating, beer drinking, white male sort-of-from the South, let me just say that this thread, man. This thread.

It makes me smile :D

Everyone is welcome here in my book, and I will make snarky replies to anyone's posts about Transformers regardless who they are and how they identify

That's also good to know!

I always made a point, at the start of each term/class, to go round the students and ask for names and preferred pronouns - made a fair few people more willing to contribute, too.

I know there are other LGBT+ fans on here, but I am obviously not going to drag them into the thread, they can do so when they come across it.

I did, however, want to share this, from last June.
Seibertron.com wrote:Just want to see people enjoying other people ... and wanted to let our community, friends, and family know where I stand, and therefore, where Seibertron.com stands.

[M]y website enables me to express my voice out loud to the world from time to time. Today was the day to show a large group of fellow Seibertronians who are part of the LGBT community, some of whom I have had the opportunity to become really good friends with over the years thanks to BotCons and through Seibertron.com, that I support them and that they also have the support of my business. On a more personal note, my youngest brother and sister are both gay. I just wanted to take a moment to share my love for my siblings and for my LGBT friends on Seibertron.com and to share in this very special day with them for which they have all been waiting and dreaming of for so many years.

While I'm not gay (I'm a Christian, which does NOT mean that I hate non-straight people. Please keep that in mind and don't just lump me in with the bad stereotype.), I'm glad this thread exists. You guys shouldn't just be shunned everywhere for your sexual orientation.

I think what people forget is that it's not always cut and dried. Christians were never bad, yet sure there are some haters that claim to be Christian. Its never the group of people but their behavior. I have known a few Christians to be very accepting and kind, and some others not so much. You cannot judge a whole group by some bad apples.

Bigotry and ignorance are the real problems. I'd really like to stay away from judging people because that can just make things lead to all kinds of negativity, which we don't need. There are all kinds of different people in the world and that is a good thing.

Unfortunately, that's kinda what happens. I'm always seeing people on the internet slander Christians in general for being "gay-hating bigots", yet they don't take time to consider that some of us don't. Take my parents, who are very strong Christians, yet they have gay and muslim friends

Note of warning (for any eventual future discussion): that is a very weak defense. Discrimination comes in a lot of shapes and forms, almost as many as diversity, and just because you are associated with people who are discriminated against, does not mean you are definitely not contributing to the discrimination. [Just take a look at transphobia, or the lack of acknowledgement of genderqueer people, even within gay and lesbian communities.]

I am not saying that's the case here, of course! Just, keep an eye on it. :D

(Also, there's a big difference between being hated, even really quite forcefully, and being led to outcast status, mental illness, and even suicide in some extreme cases. Another thing to keep in mind.)

I'm on the "G" bit of the LGBT umbrella, and I just came across this thread (since I only wander outside of the RPG section occasionally) but I wanted to say hey and welcome nonetheless :-D
