Deeply Troubled

I've grappled with this for years, and said nothing, but I woke up in the middle of the night, and couldn't get back to sleep because it was bothering me so much.

What the heck is a Cybertronian's upholstery made of?

Not leather, obviously, or cloth, and aside from that you have materials derived from plastic, that would require some form of oil, but where would they get oil?

Did they even have any upholstery before leaving Cybertron? Does a Cybertronian stop to go out and get some materials when the arrive on Earth?

Definitely some deep thinking here that will keep you awake at night. Almost reminds me of this:

Probably nylon as it is made from petroleum.

Ok, I admit, I had to look up the word...

Well, later they did develop technology for replicating organic materials in the form of Pretender technology... You don't suppose... nah... Could it? :-$

I always assumed they didn't bother with it. Steel park benches/etc everywhere.

Lately I've been thinking about Transformers faces. They're always as expressive as ours in the cartoons and comics.

But traditionally we're given to believe their faces are metal.

If they can replicate upholstery and rubber, could we not assume their faces could be made from something like rubber?

We've seen from the likes of the old Ninja Turtles movies that rubber with animatronic technology can also be very expressive.

Just something I've been thinking about lately.

A lot of car parts are made from rubber and silicone so I don't see why not. I have always thought that their hands and the bottoms of their feet were coated with silicone or they would scrape everything they walked on or touched.

Imagine if a bot went to rub an itch and they dented their forehead or something.
