Fans Who Grew Up With the Unicron Trilogy: Unite!

This is a thread for my fellow fans who grew up with the Unicron Trilogy to just speak about your memories of Armada, Energon, and Cybertron from watching it as a kid and how you feel about the shows now that we're mostly teenagers and young adults, as well as what Unicron Trilogy characters you would like to see in the Generations toyline aside from just Armada Starscream and Armada Megatron. You can also share what toys you had when you were a kid, still have from your childhood, and even got just recently! Have fun!

BTW,

Japanese Armada = Micron Legend

Japanese Energon = Superlink

Japanese Cybertron = Galaxy Force

In Japan, Armada Galvatron is called "Megatron Supermode," and Energon Megatron is called "Galvatron," so the dumb switching back-and-forth between Megatron and Galvatron was a Hasbro only thing.

In Japan, Galaxy Force is not connected to Micron Legend and Superlink, but Hasbro originally wanted the series to be a trilogy, but the Japanese production team decided otherwise. Hasbro wanted a trilogy so bad that they forced Galaxy Force into a sequel to Armada and Energon, with "varying levels of success."

I grew up watching all 3 shows on TV, VHS (I feel old), and DVD. I definitely enjoyed Cybertron the most as a kid, and it's still my favorite of the 3 to this day. All three shows definitely have not held up as I've gotten older, as the issues with all 3 shows have become far more noticeable over time. I still have a bunch of toys from all 3 series I got during my childhood. I also do have ones I got just recently, such as my beloved Superlink (Japanese version of Energon) Wing Saber I got at Botcon 2015. Characters I would like to see in Generations are Armada Red Alert, Cybertron Dirt Boss, Cybertron Vector Prime, and both Energon and Cybertron Megatron. I also still want a Cybertron Signal Lancer toy to actually be produced officially.

I never had a Unicron, but there's one I'd like to get unless I'm wrong about him being Unicron, and that's the one where he turns into a tank instead of a planet.

I grew up with toys from all three series, and watched episodes from all three. And I've gotta say, on looking back; I think all of them were pretty bad. Cybertron still has somewhat of a soft spot but it's overall not a very good cartoon and it's very stiff and awkward a lot of the time. Still, kudos for having a lot of good points like an awesome Starscream.

Yeah, that's Cybertron Unicron. I have that toy and I love it!

Can I join ? I didn't grew up with the unicron trilogy (I'm a 80's, OMG, I'm so old compared to you), but it's where I started collecting. These three series will always have a special place in my heart.
The only line which was able to revive my enthusiasm to the same level as these three is the current Titan Returns one, probably because of the shared gimmick, on the same model as the unicron trilogy. Between Galaxy force and Titan Returns, I've been a bit "meh".

The Armada, Energon and Galaxy Force Optimus Prime are among my favorites.

Yes, I love Energon Prime despite his flaws. If you look at my collection he reigns on top of the shelves: excikaiser-s-collection-t109190.php

And I prefer so much HotShot than Bumblebee..

I don't think Generations Dirt Boss, Vector Prime and Megatron would be necessary. Their toys are perfect as they are and compete very well (if not superior) to the current Generations .

The ones in my opinion who deserves Generation version are the one who had cool designs in the show, but which were botched due to the gimmiks.
Red alert is a good example. Energon Rodimus too.

I want this :

I just noticed this was the toy forum and not cartoon. Derp. In that case I friggin' LOVED the toys as a kid! I had quite a few, though one in particular that sticks out is that I got the huge Armada Optimus. And I didn't like how it had no leg articulation in super mode. And then I got my parents to buy me the Powerlinx redeco because what
I always wanted Jetfire to give him legs. I got Energon Ultra Magnus instead so I didn't care about the legs quite as much when he's got two huge f-you cannons sticking out his shoulders :D

Talking of combining, I got Energon Prowl but no other Autobot to combine him with; and Cybertron Wing Saber but never got Cybertron Optimus. Shame. Wing Saber was one of my favourites too

Stupid question : why you don't get them now ? they're not a big deal on ebay.

Eh, just don't quite care enough. I might eventually when I'm 100% independent and have enough disposable income, but I'm putting my disposable income priorities into family/friends' presents, vidya games and legions/legends for now.

... also, I no longer have either Optimus or Jetfire. I can't remember what happened to the Optimi, must have sold them at some point...

I don't suppose they'd ever consider a triple changer Unicron that turns into a tank and a planet, would they?

Discussing about Unicron Trilogy made me want to play with Energon deluxes, so I went to take some pictures :

I meant to put this in the general discussion section. Whoops. :BANG_HEAD:

I hope they release a Unicron that turns into a tank. If they make a triple changer that turns into a planet and a tank, that would be better. I wouldn't buy one that turned into just a planet. They're good to live on, but they're not the most exciting alternate mode.

You're welcome.

And Jason ... skip to the next track, we get it, you want a triple changing Unicron, this isn't the place to discuss it though.

It's where you discuss something else.

Like the Unicron Trilogy, which is what this thread is about, not what you hope for.

As a child, I would always try to build my own Transformers out of sheets of paper after watching episodes of Armada. Then Energon came out, and I renounced and rebuked the entire franchise until 2007, with the release of the first :michaelbay: movie.

I'm going to guess your parents/legal Guardians were unable to afford actual Transformers toys back then?

I had the toys, but I wanted life sized Transformers. I would tape hundreds of pieces of paper together, trying to build them.

If you want a life size Transformer bad enough and you have money and lots of it, you could shop for a G1 Megatron because a toy gun that looks real is as life size as they get.

I'm just centuries ahead of everyone on the planet. Especially in a cognitive sense.

No, you're not. Keep your delusions to yourself.

Can we PLEASE stick to the topic of the Unicron Trilogy?
