How Did You Get Into Transformers?

Everyone must have had some introduction to Transformers or else we wouldn't be here. I thought it'd be cool to hear some stories from people.

I've only been into Transformers for about 2 1/2 years. My dad bought the complete G1 cartoon for me for Christmas in 2014 and I wasn't too enthusiastic about it. My dad and I watched the the beginning five parter sometime later and I HATED it. I remember I absolutely couldn't stand Soundwave. I thought he was the stupidest thing I had ever seen. A couple months later, I had nothing to watch and felt guilty that my dad bought me this show and I never watched it. So I went back to it, and I still hated it. Until the episode Fire In The Sky. I watched it, and I remember thinking "it wasn't that bad". I guess things just spiraled out from there, because the next I knew, I was crazy about Transformers. I moved on to other shows, read the comics, bought toys, realized that Soundwave was actually amazing, and here I am now.

So, how did you get into this world of giant alien robots that we have all grown to love?

Preeeetty sure it started with being bought Armada Optimus Prime in 2002. Or some mini-cons. It was some Armada toy or toys, anyway... I really started getting into it with Cybertron in like 2005 though. Then I sorta stopped after Revenge of the Fallen, then I got back into it a few years later, stopped, then I started again mid-2015 and became a huge friggin' nerd. Life's weird like that.

How do you feel about the G1 toon now though?

And just outta curiosity Conwise, how old are you?

Disregard that young'n  I peeked at your prfile.

Yeah, I can totally see how you could hate something like that, not being raised with it. Even for me, I'm an 80's kid and there's other 80's toons that I can't stand. And they're not even all that different to the goofiness that is G1 Transformers 8-}

I love the G1 cartoon. I realize that, yeah, it might not be good show or have survived the test of time well, but I have such a soft spot for because it's how I got into Transformers. Plus I love cheesy 80s cartoons. G1 can be hilarious at some points.

I'm 18 by the way.

I don't think "getting into" TF's was really a choice. It was just something my parents bought me I assume. In stages of growing up though, they had the most staying power. I think I was given a G1 Prime and a VHS of MTMTE before my first bottle. When they came back as G2 I was all over them (even without a supporting cartoon) and likewise with Beast Wars.

A lot of other things came and went (still with warm places in my heart) but it always comes back to Transformers.

It was 30-some years ago when I was just 5 or 6 and was learning to read. I got issue #13 of the US Marvel comics, titled "Shooting Star" and I have been a comics fan and a G1 Megatron fan ever since. Around the same time I got a G1 Prowl followed by Powermaster Prime and that was my introduction to the toys. Then I finally watched the cartoon in reruns.

I didn't get into TF's until my 20's. I knew some friends who were into it as kids but I didn't have cartoon network or whatever channels played TF's until I was at least 15. By that time was more interested in girls, videogames and skateboarding.

Fast forward to my 20's and I got in a car accident. (a drunk driver crashed into us) Not going to go into too many details about it but I will say the airbag deployed and I had to break the window to climb out. Pretty scary stuff. I had a rough time going anyplace by car or by bus for a long time.

A friend of mine was watching the first bay flick and offered for me to come over. I thought that it was pretty neat and I remembered seeing it before. She told me all about Transormers: Prime and that it was on netflix if I wanted to watch it.

I decided that there was something I liked about these robots (I was a huge fan of bionicle as a kid) and that if I could get into this I maybe could change my thinking about cars. Long story short I watched TFP, found the online community and made a ton of friends who got me into the comics and G1.

I was immediately drawn to Wheeljack for many reasons. He does his own thing and he's a bit of a loose cannon but deep down he's a good guy. Ratchet is another favorite because he's been through a lot of scary situations but he keeps going. We can see from his personality that he gets down sometimes but he's tough.

Of course I started collecting both the comics and toys even though I said I wouldn't. I thought I could just get a few of my favorite bots and be satisfied. Nope. I currently have a shelf full after roughly 2 years of collecting. I try to pace myself as best I can and only buy what I truly want. I know someday I'll probably have a room full but that is motivation to do well in life so that's good for me.

Transformers has become a big part of my life. I don't think there is a day that goes by that I don't do something related to Transformers. Especially after I became news staff for Seibertron. I'm online just about every day to look for news and say hello to everyone here. It's a joy in my life and I am so happy to be in the fan community.

Wow, that's way back in time(for me). It was 10/11 maybe even 12 years ago, when I got into Transformers. And I'm just 15 years old, so it's been a pretty long part of my life xD.

I don't know what I watched first: The G1 1986 Movie, an episode where Spike tries to escape with dinobot Swoop or an episode where a blonde girl(Who injured her ankle) and I think Spike?? escaped Cybertron or something like that, the only things I still remember is that Shockwave had a huge role in that episode and you could also see the Dinobots working in Energon mines as prisoners.

From that moment I just watched random episodes from G1 and watched the movie again, and again, and again. 6 Months later I discovered a website that had every Transformers show that was released. I watched a lot of Beast Wars/Beast Machines on that website.

I had a time where Transformers Cybertron was on television that I watched every morning 6/7 o' clock. I watched a lot of video's on YouTube of sad moments from Transformers. Think about Optimus Prime dying in the G1 Movie, Vector Prime risking his life in Transformers Cybertron, the deaths of Alpha Trion and Optimus Prime in Headmasters and the deaths of Optimus Prime and Starscream in Transformers Armada.

I will spare you guys the rest of my history xD, but because I'm so young, I can still remember a lot of my own good "old" times.

Watched when G1 first debuted. Fell in love with the humor, the trash talking and a certain good robot that turned into a tractor trailer :-D. I refer to seasons 1 & 2--3? :BANG_HEAD:
