Ryan was again at Toyfair today and he got a look at the upcoming Transformers Monopoly game. He was able to speak with a rep from Usaopoly and get some details and see the game but wasnt able to take any pictures. So without further ado here is what Ryan told me.
Transformers monopoly:
*Based on G1 Cartoon and comics.
*Box artwork is Dreamwave #1 G1 Autobot and Decepticon cover.
*Pewter characters shown on the box were Optimus Prime and Megatron.
*Properties are planets. We are speculating that Cybetron and Earth will be used as Boardwalk and Park Place.
*Only available at specialty retailers (similar to Spencer Gifts and other RPG Shops)
*Due to be released in May.
*Made by:

What other planets will we be seeing?
I bet that Charr and Junk get to be the cheapo lots.

I've seen a few pics myself and it looks pretty good. I can't wait to actually own a Monopoly board game of my own, let alone a TF one.

I bet the Ark and the Nemesis will be railroad spaces, or maybe even a spacebridge. Even though it will probably remain unchanged (copout!!!), the jail space should have the Combaticons in it.
I just played the Marvel Monopoly game Saturday. If it's anything like that then the spaces will be the high-profile TF's like Prime, Megatron, Shockwave, and then have some factions like the Dinobots and Insecticons.
Looks like I'm buying me a Monopoly game.

What does G1-based actually mean these days. For all I know we will probably get a movie-style boardgame.

"Based on G1 Cartoon and comics."
It doesn't get much clearer than that, without them actually naming Marvel and Sunbow in the press release. I think Monopoly qualifies as something directed more at the nostalgia market (like Optimash Prime and the plush figures) so it's only sensible to assume it'll be based around the sterling work of Floro Dery and Uncle Bob Budiansky.
TRANSFORMERS MONOPOLY! WOO!

Why Monopoly? I would expect a game of Transformers Generation 1 Risk.

That was actually featured at Toyfair but I have no idea what universe it is in and any details of it, I was only told about the Monopoly set.

They ARE doing a TF Risk game too.
I'm looking forward to this...normally I don't buy all the Monopoly versions except for the new MegaMonopoly version (has 12 additional spaces, 9 properties, and you can build skyscrapers!), but I'm definitely in for this one. With this in production, how long will it be before TF Trivial Pursuit? Stratego?

This sounds great. G1 has a rich history and backstory that will translate well into these games - as mentioned, the ships, planets, etc. I'll be picking one of these up, as well as the Risk game - so long as it's G1, too.
The movie head sculpts may keep me from jumping in on too much of the merchandise, but trying to be open minded till I see the flick.

Would Unicron be the equivalent of Australia in Risk?

I hate to break it to you, but...Unicron is a CHARACTER. He transforms readily and could never be a Risk planet.

Interesting... Im a little surprised that Hasbro let them do a G1 version of Monopoly when they are so focused on everything movie related for the next 9 months or so.

I guess there weren't enough locations in the movie to fill a monopoly board. Or atleast interesting locations, it would be boring to buy "the street form car chase scene".

Oh man, specialty shops? It's gonna be smegging expensive. You know what, I'll most likely just Photoshop my own version of the game board once I know what it looks like and use some Basic Titaniums as pieces.
