A sad day my fellow Seibertronians. Word has reached our ears of the death of a talented actor, Kirby Morrow (August 28, 1973 - November 18, 2020), he was 47. Transformers fans will remember him as the voice of Rad White in both Armada/ Energon and as Hot Shot in the Transformers Cybertron cartoon. His work outside of the Transformers franchise us varied and he has lent his voice to franchises such as Dragonball Z and Mobile Suit Gundam. Live action wise he was most known for his work on Stargate Atlantis as Captain Dave Kleinman, weapons officer on the U.S.S Daedalus. He was still active until the very end. He was also a regular on the convention circuit.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family in their time of need.

Rest in peace, Kirby.

Special thanks to fellow Seibertron users, Sabrblade, FlamingNinja, Kaynowa and Nexus Knight.

:( That sucks, hardcore. As someone that grew up with the UT series (particularly Armada) this is a real blow. 47 is so young, too. Rest in peace.

Rad from Armada and Energon
Hot Shot from Cybertron

Trowa Barton from Gundam Wing
Van Fanel from Escaflowne (its first English dub)
The third voice of Goku from the Canadian English dub of Dragon Ball Z
Miroku from InuYasha

Cyclops/Scott Summers from X-Men: Evolution
Jason Jenkins from Kong: The Animated Series
The voice of Michelangelo on Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation

And so much more.

2020 has now claimed not one but two Cartoon Cyclops voice actors. :(

It's a real tragedy. He was great as Hot Shot in Cybertron.

He was Cole in Ninjago, the longest running series on Cartoon Network, which is worth mentioning.

Read about this just before going to bed last night (technically this morning). Really sad news, he still had a long life ahead of him.

Sabrblade wrote:Miroku from InuYasha

This one especially hurts because he was just cast in the sequel, Yashahime, earlier this month and reprised the role for the fist dubbed episode which streamed recently (it's unknown if Miroku will appear in later episodes since most of the episode was a flashback).

I hadn't realized that he was in SG:A, at least didn't make the connection between that show and the Unicorn Trilogy. Tis a shame, best wishes to his family for this unexpected and disheartening loss.

Damn, had no idea he was Van in Escaflowne. I never watched the dub, but that was a fantastic series and from what I've heard the dub aged surprisingly well.

Goddamn this year is getting worse and worse.

I've been rewatching Inuyasha this year in preparation for Yashahime. I didn't quite make it through before the sequel began. I'm getting to the portion of Inuyasha that I didn't see when I was younger, so hearing his excellent performance as Miroku is going to be so much more bittersweet as I press onwards. 2020 has taken a sad turn indeed.

An update on this news:

The original article did not give the cause of death, but which has since been confirmed to be "a long history of substance abuse."

:(

I suspected it was something bad since undisclosed causes of death are rarely natural, although my mind went to suicide. That's very unfortunate.
