Anyone Like Robots In Disguise?

I'll admit that I liked alot of the things it had.
I liked the idea of the Autobots for once having more combiners than the Decepticons.
Landfill and RailRacer against Ruinnation.
I also liked the truck mode Ultra Magnus. The tractor part of his truck mode seemed to radiate pure power. And being loaded with weapons helped as well.
Of course, I didn't see nearly all the episodes. Anyone got them on tape out there that I could borrow and copy?

The half of the toy line that ISN'T repaints from previous lines is cool, like the last GOOD Ultra Magnus figure, Landfill and Railracer, among others. Where repaints go, Scourge and Ruination are the only ones I like.
The cartoon, however...bleh. Too many silly moments for my tastes.

I hated the cartoon. I was so excited to hear back then that a new TF cartoon called "Robots In Disguise" was coming out and they're reintroducing the vehicle-based alt modes. I was sorely disappointed.

it had its good moments and its bad.the toyline was good, the decepticons in the cartoon where consistantly played as bad-ass, which i thought was nice, but Koji and the humans jsut made it really annoying, other than that it was a alright series, personally i liked most of it (aside from most, if not all, of the humans

)

I really liked RID but to be fair when I saw it was really young (10 or 11) and completely addicted to bad anime such as Digimon so this may have clouded my judgement.

Humans were not well done in the Transformers Universe at all if you ask me.
At least not until the current movie. And it was basically told from the standpoint of the humans.
The kids parents were hilarious.

Omega Prime is a great toy and Ultra Magnus was a bad-a$$ character until he joined the other Autobots and they made him softer and the Decepticons were great. The only thing that doesn't put it on the good list of continuities for me is the Predacons (Sky-byte and the other three), but I can tolerate the show, which is more than I can say for the Unicron Trilogy.

I liked RID, I have a pretty small collection of RID figures but I loved the cartoon the most, in both japanese and english

I liked the toys more than anything else. The original molds were really complex, and that appealed to me. Some of the repaints weren't bad, but I had a hard time shelling out more money on toys I already essentially had. Some were exceptions though.
The cartoon, I was really disappointed in. I knew that it was an english dub, I didn't expect it to be so kiddie. I only watched the first three episodes before I gave up.

I actually like RID minus the silly love affair of Sideburn chasing the stupid red car, the jokes, and the kids. Magnus as a character was great.
As for the toy:
I love Omega Prime
Magnus was good too. His alt.mode kicks a$$, looks awesome.
Prime was okay.
Scourge and all the Decepticons are good too.
From Rid....

RID wasn't a bad series. It wasn't a really great series either. It was a "somewhere inbetween bad and good" series.
Mainly it was just a silly show with alot of refrences to other shows that it really wasn't even conected to. RID is just a stand alone series and has no conection as a continuation to G1.

It was planned as nothing more then a filler series until details about Armada were finalised. That being said it was pretty good for something they really just slapped together. And storywise it was better then the entire Unicron "Trilogy". RiD was supposed to be lighthearted and admit it if you watched the show you damn near had a heart attack when the Decepticons made their trumphent return to animation. The new mold toys were very well done and several were recycled later on. The repainted ones were also very well done. And I'm proud to be able to say that I own Sky-byte, Gas Skunk, Slapper, Darkscream, and Black Convoy (yeah I have the Japanese version with box and inserts, complete.

). It's the only series where I liked every villain. And at least you can say it's not Armada or Cybertron.

Energon and Cybertron aren't that bad. I just pretend they're all stand alone series and aren't conected to Armada which I think is pure crap.
I don't even count the movie as being Transformers because the designs look like every robot in every other series and toy line except Transformers and they didn't even show enough of the whatever the hell they were robots. Despite all that I'd rather watch the Movie again and watch all the sequills to the Movie if there are any than to watch Armada again.
The only episodes from Armada I did like was "Past" and that's only because it told a much better Autobot turned Decepticon story than G1 did with Starscream and the Constructicons. Wheeljack is just freaking cool. Still that 2 part episode isn't enough to save the series.
Armada really sucked.

One thing I like in RID and the original three Transformers animated seasons that is superior in every way to Armada, Energon, and Cybertron AND the new movie.........
at least in those earlier animated series you can tell the Robots apart!!
In the three Unicron series and the movie, it is all but impossible to follow alot of the action sequences.

I just finished watching RID for the first time a few days ago. I was pleasantly surprised. I liked the minimal usage of the annoying Koji as opposed to the Unicron trilogy. Skybite was a tad annoying at times but every once in awhile came across as humorous.
I did lose attention toward the end after megatron turned into Galvatron.
Over all definatly not a G1 or Beast Wars but a little better then armada and energon.

I liked RiD alot. I found it a refreshing restart after the beasts series, and still leave room for some of the beast Transformers to shine through. It had some iffy moment, because it was written for an Asian audience, and translating it from an Asian culture to a western one doesn't always translate well.
But I always liked the show. Over the years I've grown to like it even more, since at BotCon 2004 I was able to discuss the series (and Transformers as a whole) with Michael McConnohie (G1 Tracks & Cosmos and one of two directors for RiD). And I grew to love it even more so after getting the chance to befriend Neil Kaplan, who voiced Optimus Prime in RiD.

Reading my previous post I feel that I kinda dissed RID. It was the series that got me into TF in the first place. I loved RID Arcee I think she was my favorite. And the fact that Optimus and Magnus were brothers blew my wee little mind

Erm... RiD Arcee?!
RiD doesn't have an Arcee. Or do you mean TAI?

The thing I most liked about RID is that Sky-Byte was a rather annoying and humorus character yes but he didn't start out that way. From the start Sky-byte was a brilliant stratigist and RID actully showed this verry well. (Unlike Armada Thrust who is just an idiot)
Sky-byte didn't turn into his comic self untill after he was brought back from being frozen in space. This is what caused his insanity through the rest of the series. This was allso verry nice that they had this exsplination for the change in personality. (again Unlike Armada Thrust who started out cool then slowly for no apperent reason turned into a big fat joke)
Thrust was just Armada's version of Sky-byte, same job title and everything but Sky-byte was so much cooler.

I am a little curious on RiD too as it is the one transformers series i never seen any episodes from. I liked all the series before it and disliked those thatcame after making me more curious on it.

I actually liked RiD...even though parts of it were a little too kiddy for my taste.
Can you imagine how this series would have turned out if they got rid of the silly stuff and went for a more serious tone? It would have been awesome....

I like RID toys. Omega Prime, as a toy, is brilliant. Scourge/Black Convoy has one of the best paint jobs plus a large arsenal base as a mini-con playground. Prime, Magnus, and Scourge are worth the $30 retail price.
