Transfromers.com has updated their news section to include two new articles. The first is a timeline that covers key milestones from the cartoon, comics, the toyline toyline right up to the yet to be released movie. This is a good way for younger fans to be interested to The Transformers lore and some of the memorable character that were introduced along the way. Here is a small sample from the article:

TRANSFORMERS TIMELINE

When Hasbro, Inc. introduced the TRANSFORMERS brand to the U.S. in 1984, it revolutionized a category it had itself invented some 20 years earlier -- action figures.

TRANSFORMERS – originally dubbed “The Transformers” -- heralded an entirely new way to interact with action figures, giving kids the power to literally change the toys from one form into another (initially, from robots to vehicles). As the iconic theme song went, there was “more than meets the eye.”

But that was only the beginning. With intriguing personalities, captivating story lines and great battle action, Hasbro firmly entrenched the TRANSFORMERS brand into the pantheons of modern pop culture. Over the past two decades, the TRANSFORMERS brand has emerged as one of the most successful properties in action figure history, spawning numerous television series, comic books, and even a feature length animated film. The second article is to bring people unfamiliar with the brand up to speed with the movie. The article is called LEARN TO SPEAK THE VOCABULARY OF CYBERTRON, HOME PLANET OF TRANSFORMERS. It goes over characters from the Transformers brand, mainly plugging the new movie. It also pays a few respects to the old storyline, like the Nemesis being the starship the Decepticons used to crash land on earth. An interesting concept to stir up more hype for the new Transformers Movie hitting theaters on July 4th. To view the entire list of Transformers "vocab", click here

that's cool. it's so amazing to see how far transformes have come and that this year it's really going to hit the spotlight for a while. it'll eventually fade again but we'll still be here talking on the forums awaiting the next incarnation of tranformers.

A guide to Cybertronian? Wow, another thing I'll draw the nerd line against.

The timeline isn't new, or at least the timeline IDEA isn't new. There was one just like that on their site's "Collector's section," or something like that.

My appologies to how cauge the news story title is. I am on a poor work computer and it chucks me out of explorer all the time. I'll fancy it up to the eye in a few moments.

I think it's a good idea for Hasbro to be doing things like that. If kids want the information, the first thing they will do is (if they have the internet) type www, the name of what ever it is they are interested in.com and hope for the best results. In this case I would say it would work splendidly.

That's why kids are idiots, and why Firefox has Google as the default homepage.

No, while your right about this timeline not being news, the one history page your talking about in "collectors" is more detailed than this one is while also leaving out the Pre-1984 and 2007 sections.

The only thing really new here is the vocab page.

Wow there are so many errors in there it is not even funny. JAZZ is not a white car, he is silver. Bonecrusher is not a military assault vehicle, he is a military mine clearing vehicle. I didn't think the Ark was going to be in this movie?

Funny how much of it refers to G1, but yet they changed it all for the movie. The other thing which struck me was that they said there were 21 original TF's. I wonder which 7 they left out 'cause there were 28 in the first series.

No, I meant it talked about Transformers like Cybertron and Primus and the allspark.

I was reading through the list and came across this:

DECEPTICON FRENZY™: Faction – DECEPTICON. Vehicle/Alternate Mode – boombox or other everyday gadget. DECEPTICON FRENZY is one the smallest DECEPTICONS and is often seen converted into an everyday gadget (eg, boombox) for purposes of spying on humans.

Does this mean the Transformers can now turn into anything they want at any time?

That is another one of the unfortunate aspects of the movie. TF's can "reformat" themselves and choose alternate modes. I think this totally destroys characterization as so many TF personalities are rooted in their altermode mode. Also explains why there are so many inappropriate choices for alt modes in the movie. They obviously feel is it irrelevant. Such a shame.
