I'll make this quick.
http://unit2.us/
ya'll are invited to attend a group show featuring new works by fourteen artists from the Chicago area. Featured works will range from sculpture, drawing, video, painting and photography, made by artists from various backgrounds and disciplines including literature, philosophy, film studies and more. Sponsored by Goose Island Chicago Brewing Company.
Stop by and make fun of art snobs with me.
ask for ninos. that's me. if you ask for wheel_jack you might just get a wheel jack. it would be cool to meet some of you guys in person.

ok so for everyone who's pist that I posted this here, even though it is technically "art" related and I'm offering FREE beer. I've included a couple of sneak peeks of some projects I'm working on.

Aw, makes me wish I was in at least the right country - I love mocking art snobs!
A lot of the time it seems to me that being a 'good' artist (that is, usually the ones who do well in art 'exams', then become famous and make tons of wonger), is often far less to do with being good at drawing/painting/sculpting etc, and far more about throwing stuff together and being able to talk bollocks about it.

A friend of mine at college (who really could paint) mocked the system perfectly in his final exhibition project. He threw together about ten canvasses. Each one was painted completely with one colour of emulsion, then had emulsion of a different colour poured onto it once dried. The result looked sort of like a Rorschach test.
When displayed, the titles read something like this (I'm paraphrasing because I can't remember specifically what he called them):

(Painting 1)
"A rabbit"
(or "My 2-year-old kid could paint that!")

(Painting 2)
"An elephant"
(or "My 3-year-old kid could paint that!")

(Painting 3)
"A dog"
(or "My 4-year-old kid could paint that!")

...and so it continued up until the last painting...

"A tree"
(or "...but he didn't, did he?")

Oh, I laughed...

Anyway...
Loving the work so far. How are these going to turn out - are they going to be transforming models or large-scale constructions (Devastator certainly looks to be a biggun, Hoist's hard to tell), or something else entirely?

Interesting. I work on Goose Island, corner of Chicago and Halsted (at G-dawg. If you know the area you'll get it )
 . Free beer is always good.

Oh yes, the Dells are fun. So which of the following are you going to?

Great Wolf Lodge
Kalahari
The Wilderness

For that matter, are you going to:

Noah's Ark
Mount Olympus
Waterworld
Tommy Bartlett's multiple shows

Just don't get your hopes up for new Transformers up there though. I just stopped by the Walmart Supercenter there and the Transformers section was COMPLETELY EMPTY. The only thing they had left was a lone Starscream Blaster.

It was really pathetic, however, if you collect anything else, I heard they are moving their entire Action Figure aisle to the clearance aisle.... 8)

I've been to the Great wolf, Wilderness, and Kalahari not yet. Its an annual trip. I've stayed at Blackhawk, Polynessian, etc.
Going cheap this year, Alakai, right offa the highway.
As far as atractions, gotta do the Mt. Olympus. Most badass wooden coasters ever!
Weather does not seem to be cooperating though.
