The animation was fairly decent, nothing special, but it certainly was not horrible.
RID was dubbed fairly well (compared to armada's dubbing, RID is near perfect), and the storyline was simple enough, and was not screwed around with by Saban.
It's a watchable series, and pretty good for what it was; a late call-up, temp, replacement series.

Back in the day when it came out, I was only like, 7-8 maybe, so I thought it was great. Being born into Beast Wars, and thinking Beast Machines was a ripoff, it was what introduced me to the Autobot/Decepticon ideas. I used to love it. Yeah, the toys were great. Optimus is so special because he was my first Prime figure, and I still have him.

Sort of. Originally Hasbro were gonna follow up Beast Machines with a line called Transtech, which basically followed on from it, featuring a lot of the same characters, and with similar design aesthetics. But when BM pretty much panned, they figured it might not be such a great plan after all. So they turned it around and drafted the Japanese Car Robots line, importing and redubbing the associatd cartoon along with it.

I think RID started out a little slow but the introduction of the Decepticons really turned things around for me.

RiD was a good series that came out at precisely the wrong time. Sept 11 had just happened and much of the series was mucked around with.

Car Robots is a thousand times better than RiD. I know that might sound crazy but they really lost a lot in the translation. I have a set of fan-subbed bootlegs and I think it's an excellent series.

Thar be some mighty fine figures in RiD line.
Particularly the bullet train team and Scourge.

True, but it only made Prime more appealing by the sheer coincedence he transformed into a fire truck, it was an accidentally touching tribute to our fallen heroes.

RiD was an ok to good show. It had its goofy moments; most of them I was alright with, but there was too much slapstick going on with Sky-byte and the other minor Predacons.
Scourge was awesome!
Omega Prime (the toy) is one of my favorites in my collection!
Ultra Magnus, when he first arrived and was against Optimus, was bad-a$$!

Oh come on now, how can you not dig Scourge and his Sword of Fury!

RID is a pretty cool series, it had several ups and downs such as shouting out the attacks, shouting out "Transform" and removing the original score and putting in a terrible theme.
nevertheless, RID was a pretty funny show while it lasted.

I wouldn't go that far. The only thing that happened was that a couple episodes didn't air because of continuous news broadcasts at the time. It didn't do anything to the story itself.
