I've always thought to myself. When it Displays a Transformers Statistics... it pops up with skill. What is skill? Is it the dodging or something? The movement?

Yes, I would imagine that it is something like dexterity. The ability to move well or use a certain object or weapon to it's maximum effectiveness. Rather than flat out speed or firepower.

Actually, I think it's more like a technical thing - their skill at doing what they do. Ratchet's Skill would be related to his medical expertise, Jazz to his leadership and covert operations, Wheeljack's to his engineering and invention.

I did think that it had something to do with the use of a certain weapon. The problem I have with it being related to individual skills that vary from person to person, is that there are so many skills and with just the one general term "Skill" to encompass them all seems far too vague.

One transformer may excel at one particular skill but really suck at something else. I don't know, but it's best not to dwell on these things anyway.

I agree with this idea of it.

seconded, or I guess tripled?

Cybertron Sideways has a skill level of 8, I would bet this is his skill as a con artist and all around sneaky dude.

There's also a hell of a lot of individual weapons to specialise in. It's perfectly feasible (and indeed logical) that someone who can kick arse with a rapier would just fumble with a broadsword; and they're both the same kind of weapon. If it was related to weapon use, it would have to relate specifically to the weapons the character actually uses, otherwise it would still be too vague.

My take on its meaning is basically related to the Function stat. The character's a warrior. How good a warrior? Look at his Skill. He's an espionage agent. Any good? Skill. It tells you how skilled the character is at his designated function - just because someone is assigned to a particular task doesn't mean they're any cop, so the Skill tells you if they are.

But isn't the weapon thing more like firepower?

Maybe they should of replace the word skill with agility?

EDIT : looked up skill in the dictionary.

It is how you can perform or how much experience you have.

Hence my definition of Skill... I reckon it only refers to fighting prowess in the case of a dedicated warrior.

I alkways assumed that "skill" refered to there primary function.

For example:

As a leader, Prime is a 10.
As a gunner, Bluestreak is a 7.
As a scout, Hound is a 9.

and so on.

Nothing wrong at all with this assumption, and you wrote in a much more concise way than I would have.

:-? That makes more sense than anything else. I'll agree with Z3r0hour.
