Okay, this is probably a common argument anyway, but!

Me and my girlfriend always have this little argument about which is better?

Transformers or Harry Potter... In general. Not the movies or something, just the general points.

I always will say transformers... but im a die hard fan.

So what things can i say to her?! Other than the fact that my opinion is that harry potter is so very child orientated! But the problem is, she says transformers is TOO!

GAHHHHHHHHH and she has a point! LMAO

What can i say to her, that will truly make her think that Transformers is da bomb :D

She agrivates me with this crappy topic lOl.... DEATH TO HARRY POTTER.

(im british too, i have to put up with the dress up nerdos running around during a book release... *Sigh* shes one of them)

This is a tough one for Transformers. True enough while they are both intended for young children through teens, adults love them both too. Harry Potter has the advantage of being better written (lame-ass "final battle" in the last book aside) and having better plot consistency. Transformers really has no hope of catching up in that department.

Transformers though while having a relatively simple premise has endured for years, because the formula is so appealing, and with the support of it's army of fans will likely endure for many more to come. I believe that Transformers will still be active long after the Harry Potter maniacs have moved on to the next big thing, because now that the books are finished forever and there are only two movies left to go, it's close to being buried forever. =D We can only hope.

So it's going to be a part of Universal. Not an actual theme park in it's own right. That's fair enough, with two movies to go and the carry on from the children who love it, it is likely a sound idea.

But attractions at theme parks change all the time, and the space may get recycled for another attraction in the future, if it fails to keep doing business. Sad thing is... I can see something like this enduring too, especially at halloween.

But still, they get one, and we dont!

Well that I'm not surprised about. A transformers theme area would never work. Though it would be awesome if a guy in a 40ft Megatron suit went around signing autographs.

I don't think Transformers needs something like that anyway. Transformers is all about the toys, and taking simple stories from the shows and using them to fuel imaginations.

They both work in the same way, but Transformers has proven it's longevity especially amongst those of us who grew up with it. It remains to be seen whether I'm right, but I don't think Harry Potter will maintain the kind of following it has now.

The most Transformers would ever get is a ride, much like the Star Wars ride at MGM.

Sorry. *Ahem* The battle was in no way lame-ass. :( Infact... there was no battle. Who am I? Where am I? What's Harry Potter? Oooh my head.

Well, I'm waiting for a Transformers theme park, too.:)

(Wheee, A Starscream roller coaster that turns and twists, making you feel like you're being abducted by the old bird himself! :D )

Making a mess in a coaster is gross but harmless for a human, I think the real Screamer would get mad if a dude puked up in his cockpit during a "ride" :))

So remember folks, if Screamer captures you, prey you have a strong stomach if he ever does any twists and turns :P

Just show her the similarities between Hot Rod/Rodimus and Harry Potter and that will be the gateway to suck her into TF fandom.

I am getting weird flashes of a lame crossover coming over me.

Hot Rod: The Matrix!

Galvatron: It will do you no good, Autobot! It cannot be opened!

Hot Rod: *Points big metal wand at Galvatron ;;) * Axio Matrix!

Galvatron: Autobot scrap! Avada Kadavra!

Hot Rod: *Opens Matrix*

Optimus: Arise, Dumbledorius Prime.

-

Starscream: I am Starscream, the potions master. *Fangirls all around the world die from hawtness overload.*

Daniel: Hello Hot-Rod, what shenanigans and tomfoolery shall we and Wheelie get up to this year?

Grimlock: Me Hagrid, want to play tomfoolery too!

I know, I know... lame...

But I laughed... at myself.

ummm....who cares?

No seriously. It's a pointless argument. You have your preference, she has hers. Either you both learn to accept that or you may as well bust up now.

Side with her, Transformers may be more fun than Harry Potter, but she's a girl, and for some reason we're always wrong when arguing with them. Just take solace in the fact that she has something Optimus Prime does not... rather, two things >nudge-nudge, wink-wink<.

My sister is a big Harry Poter fan, and I'm a Transformers fan. While I admit that the one HP book I read was pretty well written, I still see the franchise as one that appeals to middle school to high school children. Why? Because the characters are. Sure, TF may be marketed mainly to children and teens, but the TFs themselves are not children. They are huge fighting robots that can turn into cars and stuff. And Harry Potter can never take that away from us. :P

It definitely is a matter of preference. I don't get into magic and wizards and goblins. And I don't get into movies about that, such as HP and LOTR. I think most movies benefit from a superhero, supervillian, aliens, robots, or a healthy mixture of all of it. It's all about what floats your boat.

Has anyone read the sixth book yet?

People make out in it. Dumbledore begs to be killed because he's in such great pain, and is later killed, executioner-style. One guy has his face mauled by a werewolf. One chick goes insane.

And this is only worse in the seventh book.

The books stopped being kid-oriented about half-way through the fifth one.

Correct me if I'm missunderstanding you but it kinda sound like you're asking "How do I change my Girlfriend's opinion?" If that's the case the answer is, you can't.

You can tell her what your opinion is and exsplain your reasons for likeing Transformers but nothing you say can ever change her opinion any more than she can change yours about Harry Potter.

My advice, talk about something else. It'll be better for the both of you if you just drop the subject and talk about something you both like.

Exactly, remember, girls always win in relationships. Any argument or disagreement & the girl automatically wins.

okay

Dump her for a girl that is into Transformers. If she wants to get back together, tell her "On one stipulation..." Just kidding. If you want to get her into Transformers, watch the movie together sometime, and when the film comes out on DVD, watch that too. When she sees how cool the Transformers are, she can't argue! Maybe even "help" her start a collection herself, start with Bumblebee. Girls love Bumblebee.
