I've been looking at pictures of Motormaster and I actully have Ultra Magus.
It's fairly well known that Optimus has a little non-trasforming pet in his trailer named Roller but did you know Ultra Magnus and Motormaster have their own little pets?

The piece on his chest that looks like a little space craft. Couldn't find a good picture of it by itself but it does come off.

I kind of noticed that too. The black car forms Menasor's chest plate. But wouldnt that be considered as a Breastmaster?

The original diaclone release of Magnus had the chest piece with wheels. See the gap in the middle? That's where the diaclone driver would have sat.
As for Motormaster, I don't think that Menasor chest plate was ever acknowledged as being it's own thing.

And it's never been acknowledged or referenced as an individual being.

I see the seat but where do you see any evidence that it ever had wheels? It just looks like a small hover craft, don't think it was ever ment to have wheels given the shape.

I knew about them both. The Ultra Magnus chest plate is actually a flier of some sort, and the Magnus helmet was designed so that you could attach it onto the tab on top of the flier so it forms two forward facing guns.

Several TF's thru the years have had 'pets'...
BW Scorponok and Polar Claw also have 'pets', but those are fairly well known of...
BM Thurst has a chest-plate that is way to big to be practical, so I always detach it and consider it a surveilence drone that he can use
(best pic I could find of Thrust since Ryan hasn't gotten around to doing that gallery yet)RiD Ultra Magnus's gun can become a kind of walker
E Bulkhead/Quickstrike have that 'brute' thing
that looks like it could be it's own...thing.
Those are all that are coming to me at the moment

-edit-
Okay after a bit of searching I can't find pics of the wheeled version of the chest piece.
I was probably confusing it with the little transformable robot that came with the original Powered Convoy.
Seriously guys, just do a google search for Powered Convoy, plenty of learning to be had!

Interesting. I never knew this before and I've been into Transformers for 15 years. Thanks for sharing the information.

Wow makes for an interesting story. *laughs* Hummm I wonder what would happen if those 'pets' gained sentience? Would they still work under the orders of Prime, Motormaster, Magnus? And for that matter, am I remembering wrong or didn't Prime say Roller was an Autobot? And is there name for Motormasters and Magus's?

Originally Roller was allways shown as his own character seperate from Optimus Prime. There's even an episode in one of the pilots where Optimus is falling down a clif and at the bottom the first words out of his mouth are "Is Roller all right?"
Not verry likely Optimus would name something and care about something if it wasn't sentient.
However later after Optimus was resurected and infected by the Hate Pleage he "split into his three componantes" that's allso the only time I can remember where the base mode on the trailer was actully used. Anyway in that episode they didn't refer to him as Roller like the pre-movie episodes. He was just part of Optimus.

I think your getting "Attack of the Autobots" and episode from season 2, and "Return of Optimus Prime" mixed up.

yep, I figured this out all by my self as a wee lad. Knew about the Motormaster car thing, but never gave it much thought.
Saber Prime wrote:Not verry likely Optimus would name something and care about something if it wasn't sentient.
Well, more than a few humans have been known to name parts of their own bodies. Which makes me think Roller is cooler than ever.

Nope. Unlike Roller they were never actually featured as being anything other than armour.
-edit-
Like I said, do a google search on Powered Convoy, he came with a little buggy that could transform and would no doubt have been the upgraded Roller.

Roller the first implication of the Minicons? Do you think those pets may have influenced Hasbro to create them?

wasn't it mentioned in his toy bio and MtME profile that roller is more or less an extension of prime's body as well as the trailer, though the line 'is roller alright?' contradicts the line in the bios that 'whenever one component is damaged, the other two feels the damage as well'

Yup it does. -_-
I always assumed that Roller was his own sort of limited sentient autobot.

No, Rodimus Prime wasn't around in Season 2. The Hate Pleage was what made Optimus and Rodimus have their big fight.

Sorry buddy but you are getting your episodes mixed up.It must have been a long time since you've seen it because Optimus Prime never split into his 3 parts in that episode or any of the 3 episodes after that.He only split into his parts 2 or 3 time's in all of G1. Twice in MTMTE and in Attack or the Autobots.
Here are some links to part 2 of The Return Of Optimus Prime so you can watch them again

My guess would be sence Toys R Us is the only store that carrey reissues of G1 you're refering to the Titanium Ultra Magnus. That one transforms completly different than the original. You probly won't be able to remove the chest piece.
Anyway, I watched thoughs 3 episodes. Never remembered evil Autobots appearing in an episode before the Hate Pleague. Oh well it's still kinda funny the only time the base mode is used is when Optimus is evil. Unless there's another I don't remember.

errrrr .... no.
See, there were these things called "Micromasters" which came along before Mini-cons and were so much cooler.
Mini-Cons should have been Micromasters with better joints but noooooo they just pump out groups of three and repaint 'em.
Could've given them bases and stuff or made combiners (aside from Perceptor) but noooooo

No Walmart . com is now carring some of the G1 reissues and some of the Japanese encore reissues
