Posted: Thu Oct 04, 2007 1:30 pmNah, they assign the name based on which names they want to keep in rotation. Having Mirage in Energon kept the name up for its eventual use in Classics. It's the same reason why we have Hot Shot instead of Hot Rod now.

Before that even. Back in part three of the pilot, Mirage was responsible for bringing down the Nemesis. Without him, Megatron would have gotten all that energy back to Cybertron.
