Have you ever converted a friend into a Transformers Fan? If so, how did you do it?

The other week, my friend came over and I showed him several Masterpiece Transformers. He was amazed and surprised because he had never seen them before. In fact, he didn't know very much about Transformers except when he was a kid, 20 years ago.

He loved TF as kid and he saw the movie recently, but he had know idea that Takara had been keeping the toy brand going strong all these years.

So that afternoon, I showed him a bunch of my Binaltechs and Masterpieces, and needless to say that he loved them so much that he got hooked and spent $500 buying some of his own.

It is pretty lucky he liked that stuff right away. As cool as thery are, I think most people whould have been scared off a little.

I would start off a G1 or MP3 soundwave. Simple, yet very cool. Show of his batteries/weapong, and his casettes. Once that coolnest sinks in, show them some more, but not neccessarily all in one day.

Well, my husband was a fan as a child, and he's become more of one now that I am. He just enjoys what I buy as well.

Also, my sister saw the movie, then did her bedroom in Transformers. But it doesn't go beyond that.

I showed a friend of mine the season one box set and he found it incredebly cool!
Then he got hooked on Armada, got Prime and Megs from Armada and the two comics that were realised over here, and that was it.

A friend of mine showed me the Dr. Smoov videos (cue endless quoting for weeks). Because of those, I started watching a few of the funniest parts from various episodes (Soundwave hosting a teen dance party, Megatron and the Decepticons getting drunk on Energon, etc.) Then I saw the movie and I knew I had to start watching the series.

So yeah, I'm the converted one.

I invited my ex-wife to accompany a bunch of us for the opening of the TF Movie. Until that point she had been moderately tolerant of our kids' and my obsession with Transformers. (Blew away our kids that Mom got to see the movie before they did!) Shortly thereafter she bought TF wall decorations for the boys' room and she had no problems inheriting my '74 Camaro BB figure when it broke and would no longer transform into vehicle. I had remembered her saying (2 days after the movie) how much she liked the Bumblebee character so she had no problems recieving a free BB "statue". She hasn't purchased any stuff for herself...yet, but has no complaints now about the abundance of TF stuff coming into her house these days and she still has Bumblebee displayed in clear view atop her filing cabinet.
