Did you ever felt ashamed to be a Transformer fan? Especially in public?
Here is an example: I was in highschool, two years ago, and had a new bunch of friend whit me and we where talking about what we used to like or watch when we where younger. Pokemon and Digimon...all this stuff...we where all laughing!
But then i said i used to watch Transformer! They where all suprised and they all said thing like "Yuk!" They din'y stopped talking to me....they still respect me...but they really find "anormal" the idea to still like this!
Bu they feel embarassed when i mention Transformer in public. Like one day, we where talking about the next Fantastic Four movie and we mention Galactus. Then i made a joke about Unicron beign is "Little Brother" or something like that....they all felt...embarrased to be friend whit a Transfan!
On the good side, we all now make joke about Michael Bay. When a movie or a game get different, like the new Command and Conquer, we say thing like "At least its not Michael who approved the design! Plus, one of my friend is now a Soundwave fan!!!
But did you ever felt ashamed to be a Transformer fan?
I did...

Hell No. Transformers are the one Toy/Cartoon that nobody should be ashamed of. They're the only ones that are more than what they seem at first. They aren't just toys, they are truly Design and Engineering Marvels. It takes an above average intelligence just to turn one from Robot to Alternate mode, let alone make one. Check out Transtopia at tfmaster.com for some stuff that Transfans have made. See if any of your friends could design something like a Transformer. Anybody can take a man and put a costume on him or flames, like Johnny Storm. When the movie comes out I think they might change their minds.

I think you're losing those deals. I feel sorry for you.

On subject: I never have felt ashamed of liking Transformers, but if I was still going to public school and revealed it, I would be ragged for eternity. It happened with Bionicle.

Because a 14-year-old is the first place you should go for box office predictions.
Funny story: I ocne told a class I liked Transformers, and they made fun of me. Some asshole said tried to make me let my guard down, by saying "Hey, I like Transformers too" (In a condescending way) to which I replied, "Name three."
He was speechless. It was funny.

No.
Because I don't care what others think about me and nor do I seek to have my existance justified by people who judge others on one little aspect of a persons character.

Something seems wrong here. They were talking about how they use to like Poke'mon and Digimon. And Transformers was the embarrising subject in this conversation???
At my elimentry school when I was in 6th grade (when I fisrt heard about Poke'mon) Poke'mon was popular for about a week. After that no one wanted to be seen playing with anything Poke'mon related or even anything remotly simular to Poke'mon. This was long before schools actully started to ban Poke'mon cards in school. The ban never actully made it to my school because by that time no one was even playing with them.
The only time Transformers was ever embarassing was when I brought BM Obsidian to school freshman year and one of my friends not familiar with Transformers thought it was a Power Ranger Zord.
The only thing worse than being cought with Poke'mon games is being cought playing Power Rangers.

Its not an overtly known fact actually...i barely make referrence out of my friend group. The only thing they pretty much all know is that there will be a movie in june.
BTW...the Pokemon/Digimon thing, its what we used to play whit when we where kid...one dude said he liked G.I Joe when he was 8 yea old.
Plus...the one moron who made a joke about me liking transformer (I was drawing Prime) ended revealing that he liked Beyblade when he was younger! Man...the fun WE had!!! The guy felt so...he just wanted to dissapear!

Did you hear that...
BEYBLADE! The horror...

I have never been embarrassed but I recently moved and a friend saw a bunch on unopened transformers in a box my friend made a reference to the 40 year old virgin. I thought it was funny but I wasn't ashamed

Yes, frequently.
It IS abnormal, and somewhat deviant, but the Internet has led many to believe that their malfunctions are perfectly acceptable as a result of a large number of other individuals present with the same malfunction.
Of course, that doesn't stop me from enjoying it as a hobby.

Have I ever felt ashamed of being a Transformer fan? I wouldn't say that I was ever ashamed of them or of been a fan. As a Transformer fan who is in his Thirties for a short time I did tell people that when I bought them that I was buying them as a gift for someone else because I didn't think other adults would understand my fascination for Transformers but that only lasted for a couple of months and then I got to thinking so what if I like them I am not hurting anyone else by collecting them and who cares that I am in my thirties I have liked Transformers from the first time I laid eyes on them I believe I was about 13 or 14 the first time I saw one and my very first Transformer I ever owned was Sideswipe. Anyways I now have 395 authentic ones 32 knockoffs and 13 Starwars transformers in my collection not to mention all the Dreamwave and Idw Transformers comics and several posters and two large lithographs Predaking and the 20th anniversary lithogragh. I absolutely love Transformers and I really dont care what other people think. I figure that if some one likes you they will like you no matter what you like even if they themselves dont like the same things you do. As far as I am concerned Transformers are the elite of the elite where toys are concerned I am proud to be a Transformer fan and I donot care who knows. Transformers rule forever. PS If anyone is interested if you guys go to the website Bebo and look up the username Velociter and go to blog I have started to write my own Transformer fanfiction so if any one wants to have a look at it and let me know what they think please do so I wasn't able to use Galaxion because some one else already has that username on Bebo.

I think your friends secretly like Transformers. It's kind similar to having a crush on a girl but you don't want your friends to know. If your friends mention the girl's name, you instictively act repulsed to hide your true feelings.

I forgot to mention that a few of them beleive that Transformer is limited to the Unicron Trilogy (Armada,Energon, Cybertron). They think the various serie are all that silly!

That explains something. I liked certain things about those three series, but that's probably cause I'm a Transformer fan. They are kiddy, but all right.
And now I think I'm getting old at 21, cause I can't see how anyone could NOT know what a Transformer is. Course, my 11 year old niece didn't know anthing about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles last month when we were playing the old Tournament Fighters game, and that sent me for a loop too....
Oh, and I only feel a little embarressed when I'm at a yard sale or Flea Market scanning through a box of old toys looking for that diamond in the rough. But when I do find that diamond, I don't care what people think, cause I'm usually pretty pleased. Of course, I also don't shout out "I'm a Transformer fan and collect action figures", so I guess I am a little protective of my hobby.
Well....

I cant agree more with Transtopia Fan. He is right about Transfomers. True Marvel of design, and shear genius put in one. Even some awsome kit bash homemade kits are amazing themselves, just to prove how many Transformers fans are out there.

Wait everyone on this board likes Transformers? What losers!!!!lol
Seriously though only complete and utter morons are ashamed by anything that makes them happy. Beginning of 9th grade... We were all talking about our hobbies and what not to get to know each other. One of the first things out of my mouth was that I collect Transformers. This was a well known fact in my school and because of my personality I ended up being pretty popular and well known enough to the extent that if people didn't know me they at least knew of me. In 11th Grade I had to build a diorama for a class. I ended up using all of my Construction Transformers and people loved it. Most of the times other people in my glass wanted to play with the Transformers because they remembered them from when they were younger. I even Brought in 20th Op one time and you would have thought I had the holy grail or something. lol
It's a hobby you enjoy so just enjoy it.

Only when I'm talking to some friends. They all like Macross/Robotech, Patlabor, Neon Genesis, and of course Gundam. I'm the only one who remotely likes TF's, and while I love those other genre's, and Gundam is my all time favorite even above TF's (blasphemy, I know) I always get teased about my "Talking robot fetish". Doesn't bother me as much anymore, since I caught one of the guys watching Avatar, and he's 26. God I laughed so hard...

It was cool up until the Hordika (2005). The drastic changes made me and a large portion of the fandom leave because of the loss of Kanohi Masks, the mass production of large parts, ape physique, and new, stranger looks. This contributes to my opposition of the movie, because past experience shows the same flaws that hurt the franchise in the film. If you Google Image "Tahu" and then google "Inika Kongu", you will understand.
