What on earth is the point to this transformer? A flying saucer? Possibly the first protoform?

:-?

So basically he has to fly around in space listening to static all the time while the rest of the Autobots have fun on Earth.

Sucks to be him.

The real question is where did Cosmos get his alternate mode?
Is the flying saucer a Cybertronian design? I doubt it. Humans have been claiming to see flying saucers for ages, and the Transformers don't seem like the type to watch from space and occasionally abduct a random nutjob.

Perhaps Cosmos scanned his alternate mode from an alien flying saucer he encountered in Earth orbit. Being unfamilar with Earth technology, Cosmos probably had no idea the vehicle he scanned wasnt from Earth. As for the little grey men in the flying saucer, maybe they decided that it was a bad idea trying to study humans while yet another technologically advanced race was fighting a semi-secret war on Earth. The experiment was now subject to outside influence from Cybertronians, so the saucer aliens just packed their bags and left, hoping to return to study Earth again in a few thousand years.

It might be his protoform :???:

I always thought of Cosmos as the Transformers equivalent of whichever unlucky Tracy brother got posted on Thunderbird 5.

He doesn't really strike me as useless.

In fact, he seems quite vital (communications and recon), though he seldom got credit for his contributions and had a boring job.

I figured without him Teletran-1 was effectively blind.

No. Not even slightly.

Yeah, his voice lapses between Mexican and a really piss-poor Peter Lorre impersonation.

Funny how hi tech spec talk about the moon, yet Cosmos was able to tow all the Autobots from near enough to the Sun, back to Earth...

Love the consistency of G1! :P

I always figured that Cosmos took that form so that if he were acsedently spoted by humans [while scaning for Desepticon] it may not be reported or takin seriously. Then his posion wouldnt be compramised.

Is saying 'consistency' and 'G1' in the same sentence allowed?
