Autobot city

I was just reading wiki, and it says that Metroplex was the main core of Autobot city, so why didn't he do anything during the movie when it was getting attacked, and the transformation into defense mode was done manually?

Its because the movie was written sometime during the First season. Which is why you don't see Season 2 TF's at all during the movie. If only it would of been written later..... a Devastator, Bruticus Menasor battle against Omega Supreme and Defensor would of been awesome!

So Autobot City was initially a life-less mechanical city before it became an Autobot sentient being?

I always thought if you retconned it, The Deceptiopcns took out Metroplex during the first strike, putting him in Statis Lock.

Basicly althou I dont really think you can call it a retcon. Its in the first episide of season 3 a story that takes place days after the events of the movie.Preceptor tells Blurr that he neens to take a new transforming cog to Metroplex to replace the one dammaged in the Decepticon attack.

Metroplex is a part of Autobot city but not the whole city. You have to compair him to 5th ave in mannhatten.

Why didn't he respond or make himself known during the attack? At least flip some switches or say something, if he can't transform.

Maybe the Decepticon overloaded some of Metroplex's system that his transformation had to manually executed, or something to that effect

At least take the load off Springer and Arcee, so that they can do something else. Like pushing more launchers into place.

Maybe the Metroplex part of Autobot City wasn't constructed / didn't arrive from Cybertron until some point between the movie and FFOD.

Like shooting off target. :P

If Metroplex would have risen, Prime would not have died.

It was all lazy-ass Metroplex's fault.

I always thought it was Hot Rod's fault, getting in the way.

I always thought it was Megatrons's fault, he pulled the trigger.

Ultimately though, Hasbro's to blame for everything.

I agree it is a pity we never got to see Metroplex transformed into bot mode in the movie. Either him or Fortress Maximus fighting all of the large Decepticons would've been awesome!

It was Magnus's fault. If he'd handled the battle professionally, he wouldn't have to call on Prime to come and make the sacrifice.

Was Trypticon around during the movie timeline?

That depends on wether your following the U.S. G1 continuity or the Jaman continuity.

for the U.S. the answer would be no.Trypticon was created in the 3rd or 4th episode of season 3 witch takes place after the movie's story.

In Japan they didnt get the movie at the same time we did or before getting season 3 so a special was made for them called Scramble City, that had Trypticon [and Metroplex] being created sometime after the Airelbots and the other season 2 combiners.... 17 years [in the shows history] before he was created in the U.S. stories ,again in the shows history remember the movie is set in 2005.The special featured a big fight between the 2 city bots that ended with the intention of a 2nd part that was nver made.
When they translated the episode that he was created in the U.S. continuity they just re-wrote that part into him being repaired.

He wasn't Optimus Prime, I'd wager.

So why are Blaster, Perceptor, Blitzwing, the coneheads and Astrotrain part of the movie?
