As the Tf movie is becoming ever so popular, is was thinking to what point in the future, will us G1 ers, be in such few numbers that we can no longer (if we had the need to) sell off our collections for decent amounts of money.
Or even the appeal of G1 toys, be totally non existant and they will just be a relic of our times.

There are still very old toys from before we were born that sell for a hell of a lot of money, so don't despair just yet. But yes, we fossils are doomed to obscurity. Such is the way of things, roll over for the next generation.

Hmm, I think G2 may actually get skipped completely. It's the G1 nostalgia that holds up G2 toys as well. When us G1ers are all gone, Armada through to Cybertron will probably rule the roost. With the live action movie taking the place of the '86 movie.

That's why I have 2 sons, to keep the G1 spirit alive. I'll be passing all of my G1 stuff onto them.
Or for them to sell for beer money in college, whichever comes first

Well, as long as there are purists, there'll be G1.
simple as that, so don't worry. You've got a while.

if someone is willing to bid a grand on Ft.Max, then you got nothing to worry about.
me, it isn't the collecting i want to pass on to my kid, it is the awe, the wonder, the appreciation, the pandora's box of imagination i opened when i got my first one back when i was 9...Thundercracker....sigh.
i want to tell my kid all about what a G1 really is, and why it is different from all the other lines.
not better, but different and more special to me.
and i hope with a little energon and a lot of luck that will be passed on and keep the toys/collecting going.
now, if he ever asks about the Rock Lords....i'll spank him and send him away to a military school till he's 18...

This is one depressing topic. In order to combat the potential threat of G1's fall into obscurity and status as the punchline to some toy collectors' joke, I hereby pledge to live forever.

I'll support you in this task. What's your preference for immortality: dark rites or a Lazarus Pit?

You know what, I'm up for anything really. What do you recommend?

From the dawn of time we came; moving silently down through the centuries, living many secret lives, struggling to reach the time of the Gathering; when the few who remain will battle to the last. No one has ever known we were among you... until now.
When only a few of us are left, we will feel an irresistible pull towards Japan... to fight for the prize. Which will probably be a MISB Fortress Maximus or something. So we'd better all brush up on our swordsmanship. There can be only one.

Well, I intend to train my own children to be G1 fans, and I'm gonna train my bro's and sis's too, when we're older.

With electric shocks? That is the best way of training them, trust me!
