Hi,

New to these boards, I don't collect tf myself. However my brother is a lifelong collector.

He somewhat recently decided to part with his c-9+ loose mint complete g1 collection. he had everything. it went for 6 large on the bay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0125162637

He waited till it was completely paid for before he shipped it. it was paid via paypal. tracking, insurance, the whole nine yards.

couple of weeks later, the guy, greg monroe, says that the figs weren't as nice as the auction listing. files a complaint thru paypal, and his credit card company. my bro mailed out over 100 lbs of figs to this guy and the guy gets his money refunded, and keeps the figs, and actually even re-sold some of them via ebay. now my brother is in collections with paypal, out his lifelong collection, and out 6 large. he has had to get a lawyer now thanks to this scumbag. Paypal was a joke about it, as was ebay. There is no protection for sellers, even with tracking, insurance, and "all sales final".

So, if you have any sort of deal ever with greg monroe from nuevo, california, don't deal with him.

If you do know him, and he would like to defend his actions. Have him drop me or my brother a line or post here.

Hope this helps keep someone else from being robbed.
Steven

No offense, but your brother's feedback isn't all spic and span clean either.

Methinks this could be a troll thread. (Might be time for an IP check?)

Appreciate the feedback. Now, for my brothers feedback, 3 negatives out of 256 or so isn't too bad imho. As to the trolling, right now I'm simply warning others in case they have a large transaction like this. Take it how you want. If anyone would like further info, plmk or pm me or whatever and I'd be happy to oblige.

I've had some problems with paypal in the past before, as a seller. Sold some stuff overseas and because I didn't have a confirmation that the buyer actually had received them, they sided with the buyer and I lost about $800 of merchandise.

However, if you have been keeping your receipts, and shipped in a manner that shows that the buyer received the items, you "should" be covered. Especially if you have emails from the buyer stating that he received them, but does not like them.

All of these should be forwarded to paypal. If you have proof that the buyer has also SOLD some of these items, this should also be forwarded to paypal. All together, one nice clean package with your case number on it.

If no action is taken, you call them. Bust their bums on the phones until you FIND the person who can help you. Might take a few days, but if you have the proof and evidence, they WILL have to help you.

If, and only if, all those other options have been taken, they still refuse to help, that's when you bring the law in.

This is, of course, assuming that you have PROOF. This is usually the bit where someone says "oh, I lost the tracking information..." or something of that nature. Hopefully, that is not the case.

Paypal doesn't force refunds instantly just because a person asks for it. Usually, Paypal and eBay try to have the two parties resolve the issues on their own. There must have been a list of proceedings that you haven't shared with us yet.

Hi,

To the best of my knowledge, my brother took all the steps via paypal. However, the big obstacle was that the buyer got the refund from his credit card. The credit card then took the money from paypal, and paypal has been trying to take it from my brother. My brother has all tracking info and emails from the buyer about the whole deal.

My brother kept all correspondence and forwarded it all to ebay/paypal. A bit after all was paid and shipped/delivered, the buyer complained that 10-12 of the pieces weren't gem mint and that he wanted a refund. My brother gave him a little back to satisfy him, but that wasn't enough I guess and the guy went to his cc company and said that the items weren't as described and gave him his money back. Paypal even went so far as to say that they'd fight the chargebackfrom the credit card, but in the end has tried to charge my brother. The buyer then shipped some misc broken bits and parts that my brother didn't even send him. He has that label as well. Mark sent over big packages, and got one back that weighed less than 2 pounds described above. I'm not too knowledgeable about the law, but this has been ridiculous.

Technically all paypal is, is a vehicle for people to pay money to one another. Not an enforcer for people who buy/sell things. My brother works for paypal and has told me of numerous stories of people calling with complaints of deals gone wrong and there isn't really anything they can do except to give back money, therefore any claims that are made they tend to take extremely seriously so they aren't just handing money over all the time, that wouldn't be good business sense. It's really up to the buyer/seller to contact the delinquent's local authority and bring up charges, and settle it through the legal system of that person's country (thus its good to know the laws of your buyer/seller before shipping).

Unfortunately there are rotten apples out there trying to screw people over and it looks like your brother may have found one. Hopefully he can get something back and learn from this lesson.

My 2 cents.
