Do You Prefer Megatron As A Gun, A Tank, Or An Aircraft?

Spare me any of that Beast Wars nonsense.
I vote a tank.

I add a second for tank.
Raw power, tough and durable, but mediocre speed. Just how Megatron should be, a massive hulking death machine.
Leave the high speed flying to the Seekers.
As for the pistol mode... just useless.

I always thought the gun was lame. It's the only real mistake made in G1. I mean he transforms into something 10% (or less) the size of his robot form, and is dependent on someone else to fire him.
Completely inconsistent with an alternate mode of a evil leader.

As far as the toy goes for play/display value I'd have to say gun. But yeah, for story purposes he is useless as a gun.

Tank. Any big loud metal thing barreling at you with a cannon swinging around to blast you to oblivion is scary enough without it turning a giant robot that thinks you're a cockroach.

at first i thought nothing could beat the G1 look, heck, i even didn't blink at G2 megs. but then Armada came... and the tank/battlestation/mobile Minicon prison thing is just too awesome for words.
i vote tank/mobile assault station/whatever you prefer to call it.

None of the above. I vote for a Russian Hind-D helicopter. Big, evil, bristling with firepower. And far better for engaging ground targets than a load of nancy-boy jets.

Tyrannosaurus Rex.
The first Megatron to not be a complete tool.

Lame!
He was truly evil, intelligent and his plans weren't retarded.
He conquered Cybertron

A tank. It's a big moving gun as it is. I never cared for Beast Wars so I can't comment on that. Back in the 80s I loved him as a gun. Now that I'm older and wiser it doesn't make much sense.
All of the first bots were toys first, weren't they?

That's the one. MAHOOSIVE great thing, covered with weapons. Imagine the Autobots driving in convoy somewhere, when Megatron as a Hind-D pops up from behind a hill and starts spraying gunfire, rockets and missiles in all directions. Tell me how an artillery piece or tank will compare to that sort of destructive potential?

I watched one of the bonus features on the movie DVD. It briefly discussed the origins of Transformers. They were already toys in Japan that then had a mythology applied to them and then marketed in the States.
They choose to make all the military vehicles bad guys and all the cars good guys. The 18-Wheeler looked like the most powerful, so he was the leader of the good guys. The handgun looked the most evil, so it was the leader of the bad guys.
So yes. First came the toys then the story.

I find the jet more believable than the gun. No mass shifting.
Plus I'm a sucker for jets.

Unless you're talking about one of those specialized ones, I think I'm still right.

Yeah, and like, how many jet TFs are there?
Sunstorm, Starscream, Thundercracker, Skywarp, Thrust, Dirge, Ramjet, Jetfire, Silverbolt, Slingshot, Air Raid, Fireflight etc....
