What's the connection between The Unicron Triliogy and G1?

I mean I keep seeing all these references to G1 and Beast Wars whenever I watch certain episodes of Armada or Energon and I wonder if The Unicron Trilogy takes place in the distant future or what. Does The Unicron Trilogy really exist within it's own universe like RiD? If so, then how are all those G1 characters explained (like Hound, Bumblebee, G1 Jetfire and Powerglide)? Anyone care to enlighten me? I'm pretty new to Armada, Energon and Cybertron stuff as I have always been a G1 fan.

I did see a couple of G1 characters in the background when they were reflecting back on their Cybertronian days but I'm sure it was its own universe. But in the Armada comics that were being published by Dreawave did have a mini-crossover with some of the characters of G1 and Armada characters including a showdown with the Armada Megatron and Galvatron.....Galvatron was ownning him until he used the Star saber to kill him. Galvatron and a couple of Decepticons were sent to get the Mini-cons from the Armada universe.

There is no conection. Hasbro just likes to use characters from their past series to fill in as backround characters.
Allso the only BW character to ever appear in the Unicron Trilligy was Rhinox but it was Transmetal Rhinox who never actully appeared in Beast Wars. If they were in the future as you sugested then Rhinox should be dead anyway. He was just there as a backround character and had nothing to do with the Beast Wars Rhinox.

The Unicron trilogy is its own universe. Someone posted this a few years ago. Hope it helps...

He's right for the most part. The idea Hasbro tried to put forth was that the Unicron Trilogy of shows were in there owen Universe.
The comic book version of the same serries also plased Armada and Energon in their own universe but within a "multiverse" that contained a version of the G1 universe. The idea that Optimus and the other bots and con's in the serries were from one universe but Unicron could jump from one universe to the other after consumming it and then moving on to the next universe.
So the Unicron from the Armada and Energon comic book could have been the same unicron from one of the G1 universe's.
The comic serries got canceled before it made it to the Cybertron stories.

Small correction.....you got the guy's name wrong.Jim Lee was the owner of Wildstorm comics and had nothing to do with Transformers.
Your thinking of Pat Lee the owner of Dreamwave comics and the former publisher of Transformers comics.

Don’t forget Cybertron is the sequel to Energon, but Galaxy force is not.

Besides using the same names, it's that stupid other universe crap!
However I like tp see AEC and RID as G1 with events altered due to all the time tampering in Beast Wars.
RID, a short term story with AutoBots being well established on Earth was from when Primal took Prime's spark.
When the spark was restored, so was the timeline.
The dormant head of Unicron sensed this though, and when the time line was altered again buy Megatron taking G1 Megatron's spark. This brings us to AEC, with Unicron slipping into the past and cocooning himself within one of Cybertron's moons.
When the G1 Megatron's spark was restored, time went back to normal once again with the exception of G1 Megatron retaining a sense of what happened which gave him the idea of encoding a message on 2 space bound golden discs...

I guess the idea of a "multiverse" explains all the G1 / BW stuff going on in the Unicron Trilogy.
Thanks you guys. This has given me much to think about.

I can go deeper as I've also worked in Classics and even the movie. It helps me make sense of having so many of the same character(20 Primes and Megs, if not more, a bunch of Cheetors and what not).
To me, my collective is the Nexus of where all this meets, kinda like looking inside the matrix

He appeared on Cybertron twards the end of the series. He has no lines and is only seen for a short cameo shot. The other BW figures repainted in Armada toy line as far as I know did not appear in the series, just Rhinox.

I gave up about 15 or 20 episodes into the serries but I wasnt to into it.
I made it trew the 3/4 mark with Energon but I couldnt sit trew to the end.
I only saw the first 5 episodes od Cybertron and gave up.
So for me all 3 were a bust.
I'm still hoping that Animated will make up for the last 3 show's but I'm not expecting much better based on what we've seen so far.

Why doesn't the UK G2 comic follow on from the UK G1 comic?

I think its because both the U.K. and the U.S. got the same G2 comics.
And if you remember the U.K. G1 book told mostly future stories with characters that died in the G2 comics....so those differences would place the G2 comic in a different continuity for the U.K.
