In the original animated movie, they killed off Optimus Prime. Something they then admitted was a mistake. Then they had to come with an elaborate plot line to bring him back to life.

In the new movie they killed off Megatron. Now they are faced with the same problem of how to bring him back to life in the sequel.

I've got a simple solution to their problem .....

STOP KILLING OFF OPTIMUS PRIME AND MEGATRON!

Every Transformers series is always going to center around an epic battle between the two cultural icons. So just find a way to keep them both alive and you will never have to face the issue again.

it's becasue killing the leader brings back an audience. They want to know what hapens next.
No one will care if they kill Jazz or anything.

Besides, it's not like there's any other way to get Megatron to lay the f*** off.

Sorry, but I like my TF leaders to be a little mortal now and then. Transformers' fan base no longer consists solely of five- or six-year-olds who weren't as immersed in the "oops-you-got-killed-try-again" world of video gaming as the same age group is today. Heck, most major comic-book deaths are usually pointless because you know sooner or later they'll be back (Superman, Green Lantern, just about any roster of the X-Men).

The 'death-and-resurrection-or-ghost' bit may be a bit of an old trick for the TF mythos, but at least it doesn't shy away from the fact that the factions are at WAR with each other.

It's the 'holy crap' factor. That's the element of drawing attention to a property to reignite public interest in it. Optimus was probably taken a lot for granted long before the movie, do you really think anybody gave a crap about Captain America before he got shot?

It is kinda of sicky.Always killing the two leaders of rival factions.It likes it the only thing the writers can think of anything really original. The same thing over and over again. We already know what will happened eventually. I am always tried of seeing Starscream getting killed,too.

I have been speaking that very mantra from the hills for years! There has GOT to be another Decepticon out there who can lead and is NOT named Megatron or Galvatron! Killing Megs is always a fun ride, but then reincarnating him over and over again just cheapens the whole thing! If yer gonna waste him (or Prime), WASTE EM PERMENANT!

Movie Op was cool. But seeing Jazz get some cred after 20 years was awesome. Yeah, he was a bit gangster, but as an update from a "hip-hop funky bot" it was pretty realistic if you follow the way music shifted. They could have killed OP, triggerhappy ironhide, "cool" bumblebee, or sprite ad ratchet and I would have been much happier. At least I almost doubled my Jazz collection from movie swag.

i hate when they like kill optimus every freakin series and am i the only who noted that optimus gets weaker every series but yet optimus still uber owns it just makes me mad megatron i don't mind him geting killed no offence to megatron fan boyand girls but i hate when he come back as old galvatron it gets annoying and old i think starscream should take over once and then like go nuts and optimus would own him and then meg's come back but that would get annoying to

If the two of them would just stay dead then it wouldn't be a problem. I love the Japanese G1 series because we actually saw new leaders that weren't Prime and Megatron.

I don't hate Prime and Megs, but I'd like to see some growth, some change. Beast Wars was nice, they kept homage with the names but gave us some new guys. The constant reimagining with Prime, Megs, Starscream, and the like with every damn series just gets so old. I think I've finally reached the age where I'm officially leaving the cartoons behind, though IDW has got me back into the comic style universes.

you have a point i like beast wars to because of that but i think maybe if the freakin dieing thing was cut out peramently would be good and just give us a good old throw down with out thinking is optimus going to die again or if meg's well would be really nice once and awhile you know. but i would love to see starscream take over once like i said in my other fourm although the last few times that happin he was either owned by meg's or galvatron.

Or, Deszaras, or Bludgeon. But as you mentioned Overlord would be awesome/wicked.

There is really no need for the constant killing then resurrecting of Transformers (I'm looking at you Dreamwave!)
