Let's Play a Game! Six Degrees of Seperation Transformers Edition

After reading a post about Masters of the Universe recently, I got to talking with other members about different He-Man series. I pointed out that "The New Adventures of He-Man" took place on a planet called Primus, which, while not associated in any way to Transformers, was kind of a funny coincidence in it's own right. Someone then pointed out that Gary Chalk did the voice for He-Man in that series and as many fans know, Gary Chalk is the actor that did the voice of Optimus Primal in the Beast Machines and Beast Wars series, as well as the voice of Optimus Prime in the Unicron trilogy. It got me thinking it could be a fun game.

Here's how it works. It's just like Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. Someone names a cartoon series, you then try to link that series back to Transformers using voice actors and other bodies of work just like I did with Gary Chalk above. Ideally, you want to link them back to Transformers in as few links as possible.

For example:

"Actor A" was on "a show" with "Actress B". "Actress B" was on "a show" with Peter Cullen. Peter Cullen was the voice of Prime/Ironhide (whoever they voiced, you don't have to name all their characters if they did multiples).

Basically in my example, you would just fill in the " " with the proper name of the actor/actress or show. Sorry if I over-simplified it, I just want to make sure everyone gets the idea of the game.

I'll start with an easy one, the person that can properly link it back to Transformers puts the next cartoon series up.

Link The Simpsons to Transformers

P.S. If someone posts before you do and you can link it back in fewer moves, quote the answer with your own reply and show them up!

I don't realy follow the names of voice actors to closely, but I'm gonna throw 2 common ones out their and see who what more knowledgeable members can make of them.

Mel Blanc, or Frank Oz

have fun.

Technically I could do this in one move (heh), but there's a couple options for two moves:

Dan Castanella played Homer Simpson, and also voiced Nordom in the video game Planescape: Torment. Meanwhile, Charlie Adler voiced Ignus in the same game, and voices Silverbolt in Transformers (and Starscream in the new movie).

There's also the option that Tress MacNeille played Principal Skinner's mother, and also voiced Babs Bunny in Tiny Toons Adventures, while Adler voiced Buster Bunny. (They also did the video game Fallout together, MacNeille as Jain and Adler as my fave character Harold.)

If that works for you, I propose linking Transformers with Family Guy for mine. :)

Well I could link The Simpsons to Transformers in one move. Chris Latta originally did the voice for Mr. Burns in the Simpsons. Chris Latta did the voice of Starscream in G1.

The Family Guy is one that I can kind of cheat at by proxy of The Simpsons. Adam West was on an episode of The Simpsons and as I mentioned above, Chris Latta was the voice of Mr. Burns. Obviously Latta was Starscream in G1.

Outside of that, I suppose it gets a little tougher considering that everyone that does the voices for Family Guy could get the plague and die and the show could still go on if Seth McFarlane didn't get ill. I'd either have to think of someone that did a guest appearance or go outside of the realm of cartoons. Patrick Warburton, the voice of Joe Swanson, was on Seinfeld as Elaine's boyfriend Putty. Chris Latta was on an episode of Seinfeld. Again with the Latta. :P

How would you do it?

Technically Susan Blu, Frank Welker, and Eric Idle all did voices on The Simpsons, too. Seemed too easy though (plus I like Charlie Adler's work :D ). Of course, between them, Frank Welker and Rob Paulsen have probably been in almost everything...

BRAVO!

As for yours, G1 Prime showed up for temple in the network cut "I need a Jew" episode of Family guy.

Soundwave also works for the same brewery that Peter is employed at.

Mila Kunis, the voice of Meg is also a predominant voice on Robot Chicken, which has many Transformers refrences which have gone as far as to include Frank Welker himself.

Thanks for humoring my lack of knowledge with an easy link up.

In (less than?) one move.

In the 16th season episode, Future-drama, the couch gag is the Simpsons as actual transformers, rolling in and transforming before sitting down. Homer is Prime and Maggie (I think), is Bumblebee.

Cartoon shows are too easy, because every voice actor in TF's was in every other cartoon show. Hell, the answer for each is probably Frank Welker.

Let's do something harder (hopefully):

Link TF's to Firefly.

OK, OK! ;)

Adam Baldwin was Jayne Cobb in Firefly and also Major Mitchell in Independence Day.

Brent Spiner was the crazy scientist guy Dr. Okun in Independence Day and Data in Star Trek: the Next Generation.

John de Lancie was Q on The Next Generation. He also voiced Dr. Benton Quest in the 90's version of The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest.

And, there were quite a few TF actors who did voices in that version of Jonny Quest: Frank Welker, Rob Paulsen, Don Messick, Ed Gilbert, Paul Eiding, etc.

(Just for kicks, John de Lancie and Rob Paulsen *also* did voices in Planescape: Torment. That RPG is just that cool.)

Nice Jeysie. Nice. Even after reading your profile, I did not expect nearly that level of sheer geekdom. Hats off.

All right then. Time for something a little less geek.

Link Transformers to the following:

Seinfeld
Pulp Fiction
Casino Royale (2006 or 1967)
Back to the Future part 3
All in the Family
Three's Company

As a bonus, work Kevin Bacon into one or more steps. :-P

(No, I can't do any of them. I just want to see someone do it.)

*snerk* I can't take credit for this particular geekiness, it's my ex-roommate's fault. He's always had this huge daydream of being a voice actor... but since he's never had the gumption to actually go after it, it tended to just manifest as a preoccupation with voice chasing instead. Over the several years we roomed together it rubbed off on me a bit (along with some other of his hobbies).

...OK, I can't resist this one.

Thomas Wilson was Biff (and Buford) in Back to the Future III. He also was "Maniac" Marshall in the 3 FMV Wing Commander games.

Mark Hamill was Christopher Blair in the same Wing Commander games, and voiced Detective Mosely in the game Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers.

Efrem Zimbalist Jr. voiced Wolfgang Ritter in that game, and also had a recurring role as William Edgars in Babylon 5.

Walter Koenig had a recurring role as Bester in Babylon 5, and also starred as Chekov in the original Star Trek.

Finally, Roger Carmel guest-starred as Harry Mudd in two episodes of Star Trek, one of which was with Chekov, and he also voiced Cyclonus in Season 3.

...whew!

I already did that one. Chris Latta was in an episode of Seinfeld, the one were they all ride the subway together. Naturally Chris Latta was Starscream in Transformers G1.
