the thing is that I'm not sure it's bbts that's making the mistakes because I seem to recall reading these descriptions on the back of the toys...

not so much the stuff from unicron.com, but the minicons I'm sure have that info on the back.

The matrix WAS prime's spark.

No, no it wasn't. The Matrix is the symbol of Autobot leadership, among other things, hence Ultra Magnus and Rodimus Prime, among others, carrying it.
If it was Prime's actual spark, then what's he doing when he keeps taking the chuffing thing out of his chest? You don't go waving your spark around willy-nilly, you know...
