Special effects

We were watching a sci fi series the other day and really noticed how far special effects have come even in the last 5 years. It used to be that only movies had these kind of effects but now they are used for television as well. I wonder how well that would work for a Transformers series for teenagers and adults.

You mean a live-action Transformers TV show? It certainly would be interesting... *but* you need to remember that even nowadays the digital SFX on TV series are still limited in scope/duration. I think it would likely still be far too expensive to have most of a TV series' characters be CGI, so you'd have to limit the number/exposure of the TFs... and you know how cranky the fans get if the writers dare show a human for more than five seconds, so that won't work. :P

Personally, I'd love to see a fully-animated adult TF show. There's still so very little adult animation that isn't either anime or "edgy humor"... I wish US TV would finally get over the notion that animation must either be Japanese, kiddie, or comedy.

(In fact, the only series I can even recall off-hand is Aeon Flux... and that was initially relegated to MTV's animation anthology show Liquid Television before it finally got its own brief series.)

That is too bad that the cost would be too high for a live action show. Oh well. I like animation as well if it is done right. It seems that most animation is just like you said. I dont really care for it. Oh well it was a nice thought.
