There is a television show called "Without a Trace." It's the usual "catch the criminal" type show. In the latest episode, they were after a pedophile. The cops pulled in a suspect and said "We searched your house and found your Transformer collection. That's not something a grown man should have."

I, for one, would like to see Hasbro legal give these guys a call. I can pretty well guarantee that any of you who watched the show with other people got a funny look after that line was spoken.

It's a pretty far stretch really. And not very good publicity for Hasbro or Dreamwave with the movie coming out and a popular tv show like "Without a Trace" insinuating that all adult TF collectors are pedophiles.

My grandparents are visitng and had that one the other night. I heard the word "Transformers", but I missed the words surrounding it. Peronally this... well, pisses me off (for lack of a better word). I know, I should take it with a grain of salt, as collectors and groups are sneered at all the time. This one is just pushing the envolope too far for me. I mean, I would feel the same way about Trek or SW fans being under fire here. Just a bunch of closed minded writers/producers with their heads up their butts again!

I second that! Though, I don't really watch the show to begin with. We could make it a petition to the network for some sort of apology or retraction.

While it is a good thought, I doubt that we would be able to rally the support behind it, considering the lack of posts on the subject. Whatever I can do to stick it to 'em, I will, so just let me know!

I'm in. Popular culture fanbases, in this case Transformers, cop enough flak as it is. Last thing they need is a network television show degrading them as well, and insinuating pedophilic behaviour.

Oh please. Bad enough a couple of tv writers decided to associate pedophiles with adult TF collectors. Now you want to give them fuel for mockery by creating a stupid and pointless and waste of time online petition?

Grow up people.

I'm disgusted by this as much as the rest of you but we all know better. If people want to call you a pedophile because you collect TF's, feel free to sue them for defamation of character.

They are assholes. And that program sucks.

I guess I will happily continue to boycott watching the show. I never was interested in it anyway...which seems what they are trying to get me to do, take some interest in a show I care nothing about because they said something really gross and generalized about my hobby.

I wonder then if this means if they raided someone and found a baseball bat they would label that person as some fashion of bludgeoning maniac. If you don't play baseball on a regular basis, then why would one have a baseball bat? Or if you own a copy of Catcher in the Rye then obviously you're two steps away from murdering someone. It was probably some in joke-i wouldnt be surprised if one of the writters has an assosiation with the movie. Doesnt bother me, because it just aint that big a deal, i am a father, then an artist, a teacher then a punk and finally a tf fan-so if anyone is gonna slag me they gotta try harder than that.
