The Ark and Mt. St. Helens

I've been reading Furman's "The Ultimate Guide" (which is less of a comprehensive companion than I'd been expecting) and in particular studying the cutaway of the Ark. This ship is a lot larger than I expected, looking at the size of the robots inside, and imagining the size of a human next to them.
Would the Ark really fit in Mt. St. Helens without bringing the mountain down? I'm not being necessarily doubtful, I just don't know how huge that mountain is. Does anyone have any rough ideas as to the measurements of the Ark?
Also, how many Arks roughly would fit in Metroplex's city mode? I know Metroplex has towers, etc., so they probably couldn't get any in, but I just mean how many Arks would cover Metroplex's floor area.

It all depends on what you still consider cannon. In the More Than Meets the Eye profile books from Dreamwave, the Nemesis had a length of 2.5 miles. If they were both around the same length, I would place the Ark at 3 miles long or so and 2.5 wide. Considering that many volcanos are much larger than that at the base, the Ark could easily fit inside.

That would work.
The "Ultimate Guide" doesn't give any specifications for the Ark. How wide would you say an average TF is? I could work out from their drawing how long the Ark would be then.
Your estimate of 3 miles does sound like a likely number (from my memory of the picture).

Scaleface did the numbers once and the height of your average Autobot car
should be between 10 and 15 feet tall, depending on the model and Transformation. But then Seekers should be 45 ft tall so...

If it helps it says the Ark can hold a cew up to 300 and id 5 decks thick
I think you do have a great point the Ark should of plowed through the mountain
Imagine all that die cast coming your way

That sounds about right for the cars, around 15 ft. tall, and the seekers seem to be around 45 ft. tall, especially since part of them folds down too. How big around would the hypothetical volcano be? Would the Ark have plowed in at a angle or would it have gone straight?

Not trying to nitpick, but its Mt. St. Hilary, not Mt. St. Helens.

To be exact, it's Mt. St. Hilary for the comic books and Mt. St. Helens for the cartoon (even if the vulcano of the cartoon doesn't look anything like the real thing).

I thought it was the same for both. Thanks for informing me. I learned something new today

The cartoon itself never made mention of the name of the vulcano. But in early promotional packages for the cartoon, it said that the Autobot Vessle (which they never named for the cartoon) crashed into Mt. St. Helens. Though never mentioned by name on the show, because of this it was always accepted as being canon.
I gotta go with what Loki said.

Yeah I would go with what Loki said, Instead though............ Ark was slightly bigger craft than Nemsis was (Bigger, wider, longer). BUt still what he says is accurate so I'd go with that. Now I dunno how exactly big Metroplex was, but if he was the size of a city (What size city? Some cities are much much bigger than Volcanoes area size wise, so I would say few hundred Arks could fitt in a city, but it doesnt tell me how many Ark's would fitt in A Metroplex whose size is unknown etc, which gives alot to specullate, heheheh.

Good point. The only way I can think of to work it out (unless anyone has specs for Metroplex from some MTMTE profile or similar) is to pick one of Metroplex's towers, estimate how many floors would be in that tower, then work out the height of that tower based on an average TF's height, then work out Metroplex's surface area from that measurement.

I do believe the dino's were wiped out about 140 million years before the Autobot Vessle crashed...

Here are some interesting pictures and facts about Mt St Helens:
http://www.olywa.net/radu/valerie/StHelens.htmlEven though the Transformers Mountain was obviouly based on Mt St. Helens (I even realized this as a kid) I always have called it Mt. St. Hillary, because the name was never mentioned in the Cartoon. I've never seen or heard about this "official" reference to the mountain as "St. Helens" that Raymont T described. Does anyone have a scan of this promotional piece?

Only about 61 Million. Ark crashed about 4,000,000 BC, Dinosaurs died about 65,000,000 BC

That's what I thought.

I was actually going for 40 not 140. Slip of the keyboard. But none the less, my point was made.

Actually, the Euro TF catalogue from 1991 gives the backstory of the TF's and calls the volcano Mt.St.Helens.
As a huge fan of the Marvel TF comics, it will always be Mt.St. Hillary to me.

I always thought of the mountain to be Mount St Hillary and not Mt St Helens. It confuses some people, but yes the Ark could fit in the mountain just like it did. As for Metroplex and the citibots, that's a real wonder. In the cartoon, Trypticon was as tall as the volcano and destroyed the Ark with ease. I'd say they're pretty big.
