Hello all,

I know I mentioned months ago that I had figured out the score to the movie and I was going to post a transcription of it with tablature, sorry for the delay. I really, really like this song and I wanted to wait until I could make a nice copy of the song instead of scanning the notebook pages I wrote it in.

So here it is, a complete score of the song Arrival to Earth. It's arranged as a solo guitar piece, played fingerstyle. There's a couple parts that require some stretching, but nothing too hard.

I hope you enjoy learning this great song as much as I enjoyed figuring it out. There's a couple people I've seen online that have figured out the main melody, but this is everything, the whole song, melody basslines, etc. everything.

I've converted it to a .PDF file so that it will work in Adobe Reader, if anyones interested in the .Midi files I could send it to you.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. It was alot of work to finally be able to have nice looking sheet music of this incredible song, I hope some of you enjoy it as much as I did.

If anyone would like to post or pass the music around, please feel free. Just please don't remove my name from the music since, while I didn't write the piece, I did spend weeks figuring it out and arranging it for one guitar. So I do consider it my personal arrangement, or my version if you will, of this great song.

I would love to hear from anyone about how the song is coming along for them, or if you need any tips or advice on parts or passages.

Without any more rambling, here's the link to the .PDF file, enjoy.

*bumped*

I want to make sure that everyone who wants a copy of the sheet music sees it.

It's actually quite expensive to commission an artist to transcribe a particular piece of music, especially one where there is no sheet music available, so for any Transformer fan that reads music or tablature, this is a pretty cool freebie.

Hmm, guess no one plays guitar around here. Oh well, try to do something nice...

Actually, I am interested in this but my speakers are blown out and haven't found a reasonable replacement unit yet let alone the time to dig the old wires out and plug in the new one. :P

I will get to it though.

B-)

You don't need speakers for sheet music.

Oh sorry, I thought the original post stated somewhere that it was an audio file from the arrival to earth sequence into a guitar session of it hence my speaker post. :P

Thanks anyway though.

Wow, nice work!

I'm glad I looked in this here forum today; I'd hate to miss this!

You used GP to tab it didn't you? If yes, do you still have the gp version of the document?

Yeah I still have it. It's a weird program. I mean I know I just got it, I got it specifically for this song. (*usually I trancribe by hand, but I didn't think scanned hand written sheets would look good*) But I couldn't figure out how to make it a proper classical piece. It doesn't seem to understand that you can hold one whole note and play four quarter notes at the same time.

Alot of the notes, especially the melody and bass notes in that transcription need to be held out to let them ring, but the program wouldn't let me do that. At least I haven't figured out yet how. It doesn't seem to understand that one person can play 2-3 parts at once, it wants to arrange everything as a single part.

However I figured if someone is a good enough player to be able to play the song, then their ears are going to tell them, "oh, this note needs to ring." and stuff like that.

All the notes are 100% correct to the best of my knowledge, I spent a lot of time sitting with the guitar and going back and forth with that song, so I know that I'm playing all the right notes. (*that's why there's weird little trills, or those bars that have the C pentatonic melody for a second before the next big theme kicks in, I transcribed all the instruments I heard and arranged it for one person, so it's a little eclectic, but it works, it sounds right.*)

So the notes are all correct, but you've got to use your ears to let you know what notes are going to ring out.

Good luck, it's a great song, fun to play, and a really good workout. I've been playing and teaching over 20 years, and if I play this song 3-4 times in a row it makes my left hand ache from holding some of those chord shapes, so it's definitely a good workout because my hands aren't weak, lol.

Out of interest, how did you convert the file from a gp file to a pdf?

I lost gp this morning in an accident (computer wipe), and I'm trying to get hold of a tab from a friend that I can use.

I exported the file as a .pdf

you can also do .bmp which is fun too, then you can pull it into paint or photoshop.
