Some advice-Predaking or Fort Max

I have the opportunity to buy either a Fortress Maximus or Predaking from a friend and I can't afford both. Just thought I would ask which one is the better deal.

The Predaking is complete and in good shape but has a knockoff head instead of the original. He is asking $200 for it. The Fortress Maximus figure is $260 but it is missing most of the accessories and it looks like it has seen better days. A little cleaning would help it look better. It is essentially the basic figure with the head (Cereberos) and a two of the guns. So which one is the better deal?

Thats a good deal on Fort Max, for what's left of him. But do you wanna spend the money to buy all the missing accessories? Spike, the rest of the guns, the little drone robots whatever their names were. Spike alone can cost a pretty penny.

I'd go with the Predaking, since it's complete.

I have both predaking and fortress maximus, to complete your fortress maximus plan on spending at least double perhaps triple as I have the box, instruction sheet and all accessories. My predaking is a little chewed up and some paint wear but I'm partial to my fortress maximus.

p.s. I do have an extra Cerebros if you're interested but it's not in the best condition. PM me if you're interested ?

I'd go with the predaking since it's complete. You can get an original head cheap on ebay but the Fort Max is going to be expensive to complete.

I don't know much about either toy, but I would say Predaking. It shouldn't be as expensive to find a genuine head for him, than it would be to buy all the parts for Fortress Maximus.

One important question to ask is WHICH Predaking you are getting as 2 versions were released, a diecast one and a plastic one. If it's Diecast snatch that sucker up.

Even so, I might go with Predaking either way unless you are an extremely patient collector. I bought a GI Joe terrordrome a few years ago about 75% complete and never got any closer to finishing it.

Predaking, plastic or diecast as you will have better luck finding the right head at any price to make him original.

Fort Max as noted will take you time and money to complete. Here is an Ebay example from 3-24-08 on Spike http://cgi.ebay.com/transformers-g1-headmaster-spike-fortress-maximus_W0QQitemZ110236663487QQihZ001QQcategoryZ4696QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem = $80USD

Heck, with Encore Metroplex announced, perhaps there is a Fort Max reissue in the not-too-distant future?

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe Takara will reissue Fort Max in the near future. I would be all over it if the price was right.

Yep I say Prediking too. his head is easy to obtain and if i were going to invest in a Fort Max, just spend the bread and buy it complete. or hell just get the reissue or a good ko later on. prediking is the joint. 8)

I would agree with most people here. Get Predaking since he is complete minus the knock-off head, he was also re-issued not to long ago. The way Takara/Tomy is throwing out these re-issues of big formers I wouldn't be surprise to see Fort Max soon.

Tough call. I also have both. I love Gestalt combiners. I would choose Pred over Fort. But Fort is just ginormous! I would suggest selling your left kidney to afford both  That is what I did and I never looked back. I do get dizzy from time to time though. I walk around with a pillow to fall on just in case. I've carried this joke on way too long. I'll stop now. GET PRED!

One last temptation for Fortress Maximus if you've not already made a decision ? :P

Don't buy either. If Fortress Maxius gets reissued he'll go for atleast close to 200 dollars. You'll get a brand new one. I got my metal Predaking for $169.99 including shipping four years ago almost. There are complete vintage used ones going for a 100+ on ebay. You are being ripped if you pay over 200 for him. You can also wait for a very possible Predaking reissue too below 200 dollars. Probably the set might even go for 140.00 or 150.00. Be patient! It pays off later.
