Ultra Magnus has got to be one of the most underdone characters in the transformers (cartoon and toy wise. He does seem to get a bit more exposure comic wise) mythos.


I love him personally, and the RiD toy is truly awesome. Good luck getting him!

I just bought a Car Robots God Magnus for $40.

I'm so cool.

Unfortunately Ultra Magnus mostly means "another Optimus Prime Repaint" to me lol

What do the words mean to me?

On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being the lowest and 10 representing, let's say "Counterpunch Cool" ... Ultra Magnus is a 15.

Well, considering my screen name and avatar were inspired by Car Robots God Magnus, I think it safe to say that I loves me some Magnus! In fact, I love all things Magnus, Prime repaint or not. I'm so happy that he has such a pivotal role in Animated. I'm hoping to see his character fleshed out a bit more and I almost lost control of several bodily functions when they revealed his figure at BotCon. I cannot wait for that one!

Ultra Magnus settles fights between himself and women by dropping a grenade between the two of them and finding out who stands up when it's all over.

UM wins by attrition.

Ultra Magnus: One of the most kickass Autobots to ever exist, just take a look at his new Classics Armor. I'd love to see UM in the next movie but NOT a Prime repaint(that molds already been used 3 times, don't think we need a 4th)

It'll be the only thing I care to spend the time reviewing for this site. Because it looks so damn cool.

I actually love the White Prime Magnus (and I love the others too)

Whats strange though I distintly remember my favorite character being "White Prime" (I dont think I knew his name as a kid)
I did not have his toy and only found out the White Prime and Ultra Magnus was the same person in feb 07.
I remember seeing him on the show and having conversations about him, I even remember the scene.

But it seems the white prime was never in the show, was it all in my head?

Hate Plague episode...happened to me too.

I had no context, so I thought that the all white color Prime rocked.

I can't stand him. I try to stay as far away from UM references as possible.

Ultra, accordong to dictionary.com means...

going beyond what is usual or ordinary; excessive; extreme.

Magnus according to dictionary.com means...

Magnus
Scand. name, popular with early kings, the first to use it was Magnus I, king of Norway and Denmark (d. 1047), who evidently took it in emulation of Charlemagne (L. Carolus Magnus) under the impression that magnus (L. "great") was a personal name.

The ultra king in a way or he was supposed to be the next king in g1 time lines. Hand picked by optimus at his deathbed but we all know where the matrix ended up.

I often do this myself so should I just paint myself white and be done with it?

Seriously though I can't think of Ultra Magnus witout thinking "I can't deal with that now" and remembering how upset I was when Prime died.

Now i just can't wait for the animated UM to land on thses shores - he seems even more awesome than RID Magnus.

He's number 3 to me!!

I distinctly remember wiping the drool off your chin as you asked me "Where did you get that?"

But yeah, it was an awesome deal. Easily my favorite Magnus mold.

I always think of 'Target: 2006' when I think of Ultra Magnus.

Also, just my favorite Autobot!

Magnus, a bot very similar to Optimus in apearance, with similar idealistic abilities. These are the recent figures we've been getting, ie, the white Optimus repaints.

As to the relation of the two, make what you will of it. If they're brothers, rivals, similar builds by coinsidence?

Ultra Magnus is the figure with a larger upgraded stature. Should it be from add on armour, or a massive top notch build, it is obvious upon apearance that this is more than the average bot and commands respect.

RID Ultra Magnus was the first to be an individual from Optimus. However the ability to combine with Optimus, and even host an updated Optimus head within himself more than shows the relation, and hurts the figure, reducing him to nothing more than a resentful set of Optimus armour.

The most recent Ultra Magnus though, seems completely independant of Optimus, giving us a truely unique version of the character. He seemes to be using the power of Thor to summon his inner Stack, and with any luck give us some new episodes of Unsolved Mysteries

the dreamwave comic (generaton 1 vo2) i think realy sticks out in my mind when i think of ultra magnus

I've never understood why they keep painting OP white and calling it UM since in G1 they were never the same - UM was cab AND trailer and was predominantly blue. And very big.

Ultra Magnus means...

No battle mask when wearing an armour, and

That's because they are too cheap and lazy to make a different mold.

"Open, damnit. Open!" Can't think of UM without thinking of that line. Still find myself muttering it whenever I'm struggling to open anything.
