simple question....

whats the worst altmode in TF history and why?

for me : reflector....3 bots and they have to form together to make one camera and it can make pictures and euhrm? zoom in?

yep I think thats it, although the pretenders seem like a pretty lame concept to me

Hmm... I've never been a fan of gun alt modes or tape decks (even though their characters were great) they are at least slightly useful. I can't think of a worst.

He's one of the worst of the worst in my list. (It simply had to go lower than the list of the worst.)

Worst alt mode? Easy. Monkey.

Seriously though, sports car to futuristic winnebago is pretty bad. For most practically useless though, binoculars. You can't move, and you don't even have to use any electronics, or electricity for that matter. You just sit there, waiting for someone to pick you up and use you, even though they could just zoom in with their own eyes. And yet it's still a cool figure.

As a big fan of the RID Megatron/Galvatron Botcon Deathsaurus trio and their many, many modes, I take offence to that. Sure, a giant flying hand is useless, but there are plenty of other modes to utilize.
Not really offended, but you know, just had to say my piece. Some alt modes may be stupid, but I'd prefer to think they all serve some kind of functional purpose. Except pre-earth G1 Soundwave the lampost. That's just assinine.

A toilet - just kidding, there was no such transformer.

I think the Rock Lords have dibbs on the worst alt mode.

Meantime - he didn't even transform in to a working watch. They could have made him a cheap digital watch. Instead he transforms in to a hideous looking fake watch. Does the "wrist band" part of him even work and stay on properly? Is it by any means comfortable at all? Would anyone actually wear that?

Don't get me wrong, a transformer that turns in to a watch was a great idea, but the execution was terrible.

I liked the character(s) but they should have became something cooler. Could they be considered a gestalt?

I agree with Meantime in that in the 80's we got transforming watches that worked. It seems really lame in this day and age to get one that doesn't.

Even the mobile phone or camera. I mean even if were only one of those cheap disposeable cameras, it would have been a novelty to have a working TF phone.

Cybertron Megatron is just awful looking in every mode. Worst Megatron ever!

Pretender Monsters and Blot, what are they? Though I read in Cybertronian that Blot is some sort of mole monster. Let's not forget Energon Sharkticon in the what the slag am I category. Though they may work as disguises as the Autobots stop in their tracks to figure out what they are. Even Scowl in the MTMTE book is reported to ellicit laughter from his foes.

You want a good alien altmode, look at Squeezeplay.

Toywise, Motormaster because he's too slaggin' small to face off against Prime as his tech specs suggest.

Even Sixshot's altmodes are a bit cheap.

Wait, just remembered the pod modes from the Movie. And they made toys of those things?

Can I say "Action Masters" had the worst alt modes?
If not, I vote Pretenders.

Based on looks, my least favorite alt mode was Wheeljack's cybertron mode. A floating box with a spoiler. They didn't even try to make it resemble his robot mode, other than the color.

In terms of functionality, it would suck to be any of the inanimate alt modes: gun, tape deck, camera, lamp post, mail box, etc...
Sure you can hide, but what if you were always surrounded by your enemies? You would have to stay as a lamp post...FOREVER!!

actually the "useful items" transformations, i.e. lamp post, tape deck, ect. are great for covert ops missions. when on cybertron soundwaves lamp post mode WAS rather useless except it let him spy on the bots without being obvious.

now the giant hand transformation on the other hand... wow its lame, like transforming into a shoe lame. like transforming into a microscope lame. like constantly rhyming lame. totally 3 guys to make a camera lame.

So far, the worst altmode hands down has to be Animated Laserbeak. Where exactly is a giant guitar going to be a useful disguise? How many rock concerts do the Decepticons REALLY need to infiltrate?

True enough, Soundwave wave gets changed in to a vehicle in TF:A presumably to avoid the whole mass displacement issue, and then we get a surfboard size guitar Laserbeak that has to be carried on the luggage rack.

Maybe he's a bass?
