A strange and unheralded video has appeared on Monkeybar TV, the video channel of Hasbro.com.

The video contains the first look at the Transformers Universe tie in Media.

So they couldn't get Peter Cullen or Gary Chalk to be Prime? Come on! Only 4 ppl have ever been Prime and it should remain an elite class!

I thought the guy did a good a job. You could tell before he said that he was Optimus Prime. Though it would have been epic if it was Cullen.

Could there be clues for new universe figures?

As I see, the new chars are Tracks, Jazz, Rumble, Frenzy, a few nameless decepticons, and a G1-looking Megatron

Dunno, could just be to keep it looking G1. We've already got two Megatrons. A decent G1 version in Classics would be nice though.

But why have they made this? What purpose does it serve?

"few nameless decpticons"?
i saw thrust!

wish you were right, but i'm willing to wager it's no more than an unrelated (to toy production) promotional video.

The animation was poor and the voice acting was flat, if you ask me.

Yeah that was pretty poor quality work.

That was pretty craptastic, but I hope it does mean we'll be getting Jazz, Tracks et al

(Ratchet seems pretty definite at this stage)

The animation mostly sucked but the voice acting was awesome.
I don't think this has a lot to do with the toys, look at prime he's a hybrid of G1 and Classics voyager.

You know, it was alright. Let's just think about the fact that it is kind of amazing that Hasbro even bothered to take the time to make a short about the Universe line following G1 canon. Yes, somewhat lame, low budge animation. Yeah, voice acting is lacking. But just think of the new legion of TF lovers ages 8 - 13 that are watching this and saying "wow, my weird smelly uncle was right, G1 is cool!"

Is it so hard to get Peter Cullen? Jeez, you hear him all over Cartoon Network.

This better not be their attempt at remaking G1. It was way worse than G1 ever was. At least if they put time in to making something, make it worth while! That was ridiculous! Absolutely pathetic and poor.

I agree with Point here. The narration killed what is otherwise a great video. The animation I kinda liked, it's just it really should have either been Cullen or Chalk narrating, like Chalk did on the Ultimate Battle DVD.

Pretty cool. Be interesting to see what direction it goes in, if Hasbro don't get put off by all the bitching.

Corny.
But nice to see Hasbro attempting to give some background fiction to Universe. I could be onboard with this if they get a bit better in quality and have even a tiny bit of story depth.

I hope to god that this is not the "adult" GI Joe resolute like series they have hinted at.

Just looks like your average "Dumbass Reel" on TF backstory, this time climaxing with Megatron in full dull surprise. Shouldn't threaten to become a new cartoon.

Peter Cullen is a damn expensive voice actor. Too expensive to be payed for a short web comic.

Wow, it looks like someone just discovered the joys of Flash animation.

Incredibly cheesy, poorly animated(walk cycles do not equal bouncing up and down)

Good point. Kinda earned it though.

I didn't mind it so much. It's more of a "web comic".
