A press release was issued in regards to the advertising for computer games. According to the statements, Activision and Massive Inc. have agreed on a multiyear partnership for advertising and deliver in-game adverts into titles, including for theTransformers: Revenge of the Fallen game, on Xbox 360 and PC Platforms.

"Our partnership with Massive has been successful over the last two years. This long-term partnership allows us to continue to deliver dynamic in-game advertising to the immensely popular Xbox 360 platform as well as the PC. By incorporating dynamic in-game advertising in our titles where it is appropriate, we can increase the realism of our games by presenting consumers with authentic environments in genuine settings, while also expanding a key growth opportunity for the company."

I'm not sure what's more frustrating:
A. The idea of in-game advertising (Why am I getting ads in something I pay for?)
B. How Massive and Activision seem proud of using in-game advertising (when all it is is a money play)
C. This BS about in-game adverts "enhancing realism" (apparently we're quite gullible)

Of course, other people might like in-game ads.
Who knows...

The only ways this partner ship should be used is to give Prime a Pepsi trailer, or put Dispensor properly into the game.

It matters not to me. After the steaming pile of mediocrity that was the first Transformers Movie game, I promise that I will not be running out to buy this game on release day. I may - may - pick it up once it hits the $20 bargain bin assuming it doesn't turn out to be a complete pile of feces.

To anyone who wants to play a great Transformers game, I highly recommend downloading the Transformers G1:Awakening cell phone game from Glu Mobile. It's by no means perfect but it is probably the best Transformers video game on any system. I would love to see them make an Xbox Live Arcade version. I've probably gotten more hours of play out of this $8 cell phone game than I ever got from the mediocre $60 Xbox 360 game from Activision.

Well I hope the game is still multi-platform.

I support both of these ideas.

Far as my opinion on in game advertising however, I don't understand how a game that has real world sponsors still costs the same as a game that does not. Shouldn't the revenues from the advertising reduce the final price of the game?

So they make a game based on an advert for GM, ebay Pepsy co oh and Transformers. So instead of trying to make an awesome game that doesn't suck they decide to put all their man power into putting in even more advertisement and charge 70 smackeroones for it? Fu** that ****.
