No confusion, Club Insider says Botcon is in Indianapolis

Check the club forums. Munkeefist claims to have been told by a Club official that Botcon will be in Indianapolis this year and that the official announcement will be in 2-3 weeks.
I have done a little digging, and it seems that the
Indiana Convention Center would fit the bill as far as past conventions go. It is not listed yet as an upcoming event, however there are no "mega-events" in June, so Botcon could still run concurrently with any of the listings on the site.
I'm not going to news this, but open it for discussion. Take this as a rumor for now, but I personally am inclined to believe him.

Sweet bro. KFC Buffet's and good times again man. Maybe we can rent a car this time if money allows.

I'm down with the buffet (no Whitecastle this time!), but I don't need no fancy rental car. My Sunfire will be fine. If we get a large carpool, I'll swap vehicles with my parents and get the mini-van.
This is, of course, this turns out to be true.

Indianapolis will do quite nicely! Got family near there that would not mind letting me crash on their couch!
Still, the rumors are flying like mad nowadays....I will take the ole wait-and-see attitude til I see solid stuff.

Works for me as well, and I'm open to giving a lift to anyone along my way (I'm looking at you, Pyro).

Indy might work, but the baby will be the deal breaker for me.

I may not be able to go then. What's it going to take for a Botcon in Phoenix?

It's basically the same driving distance as last year from New York.
It all depends on the convention date for me this year, but I really want to go again.

I dunno but a Botcon in Phoenix would be pretty kick ass to me. I love it down there.

*looks back at you* I doubt I'd be on your way to Indy, dear, but thanks for thinking of Ole Pyro all the same

...Indy would be fantastic, since it's close and I can get myself there....I would also extend an open invite to anyone else that needs a lift as well!
Still need verification as to the actual dates and whatnots.

Try the Golden Corral it's little more expensive but you will not leave hungry unless you want to.
I hope this is true.
I live in Indy and it would be nice to go another Botcon again, I haven't been to a convention in a long time and it would be nice to have one other than Gene-Con.

I wanted to go to Gencon this year but it was after school started. HaHa
Anyway, last time I was in Indy I went to the track museum, kinda dull if you ask me. Is there anything to do in Indianapolis like parks with roller coasters or other fun stuff within reasonable distance to the convention center?

I'm not putting much stock into anything until we get an official announcement...but it's driving me nuts!
Botcon 08 feels like oh...8 years ago.

Homie...you know Munkeefist just made some BS announcement last year and the year before too, right?
He always does this.
He's very likely somewhere laughing about it now.

You are correct!
I am hoping the part about info coming out in the next couple of weeks is true enough though. I need to know the location and date ASAP. My calendar is already filling up for next summer.
I am hoping for New Orleans myself.

Wait a minute, didn't you say before that you wanted it in a "safe" city?

LoL. I ended up there on a road trip with my best friend a few years back, they threw beads at her, I was perfectly "safe". HaHa We were supposed to be skydiving in Alabama but the weather was bad at the landing site on the beach so we went to New Orleans instead.
Not sure how the city is post Hurricane though.

Post Hurricane New Orleans is as much as cesspool as ever. I say that lovingly. Sure, the city can be rather dirty in certain areas, but some of the architecture is beautiful.
In all seriousness, New Orleans does have a LOT to offer. The Aquarium of the Americas was magnificent before Katrina, and though not quite up to its former glory, still very fun and educational. Then there's Jackson Square and the French Market. Riverboat tours.
And, of course, Bourbon Street.
I firmly maintain that Bourbon Street is long overdue for a Seibertronian invasion.

They better get their asses in gear.
I've begun to seriously consider not going...

Yeah, you'd think that they would have '09 done and would be working on '10 by now.

I'm not one to gripe, but given the current state of the economy, the ridiculous unemployment rate (which I happen to be a part of), and discretionary spending not being a luxury most people can even think to afford right now, holding off on announcing where Botcon is seems to spell certain doom for it.
This is one Botcon people who seriously want to attend are gonna have to plan well in advance for, and that's just not possible without any info on it.

There's not a lot I know about Botcon 09 yet, but I do know 2 things.
1) You will, in fact go.
2) I will buy you a beer (possibly more than one)
Where and when that will be, who knows.
Btw, did you get my e-mail?

My thoughts exactly.
And I'll be there as well. I'm intentionally not taking summer classes just so I can be available.

Finally! Someone who agrees with me. I'm honestly surprised they have'nt used Phoenix yet. When you think about it, it really is one of the perfect locations to hold a Botcon.

I 100% DISAGREE. The geek-funk is bad enough in the northern cities during the summer, it would only be worse in the middle of the desert.
If Botcon gets bumped to the Spring or Fall again, then that wouldn't necessarily be as bad, but it is a really bad idea to have a Summer Botcon in the southern half of the US.
(Anyone who has gone the past 4 years can and will confirm the geek-funk in the dealer room).
